I wonder if it's the bloke who gave that interview to the tabloids, yesterday.

From what I picked up from the news, it was a guy that gave an interview to the Daily Mirror (?). Police only took interest in him after this interview (if I heard correctly). Apparently he said he knew all five women. They named him.. something Stephens...
  • Yep, him. Well, we'll see. Apparently the police had questioned him four times, already, so maybe the net was closing in on him anyway.

I believe that Miller6969 had given the police all the profiling they required and that's how they got him
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

ah it must be him, he'd given an interview saying how he knew them all and considered them to be 'friends' of his and he'd chat to them frequently. The paper even showed his picture and said they wanted to talk to him... which is unusual in itself. If he considered himself a friend and wanted to help them... I wonder is he one of those who thought he was doing them a favour and helping them... by killing them?

  • I was thinking, that it's a pretty bizarre state of affairs when a person can go on myspace and view a suspected serial killer's profile. It's surreal, really.

  • The news this morning said that he asumed he would be picked up for the murders. He told the press or has someone tell the press that he was not suprised. The news crew said...we should have an answer in about an hour if he confessed or not. Damn, here in the US it takes like a year just to get. You guys across the pond are really quick!

  • Of course, though, it's not the fault of social networking sites that predators and murderers abuse them: these sites do try to provide users with optimum privacy.

It just seems strange that the BBC went to myspace for their photo of the man ...

i agree.. it seems so futuristic and just plain weird.

I wonder if Tom "the bishop" had any (REAL) friends on there... i notice on the bbc news that it said he had 8 friends... discounting the TOM guy who is everyones friends that leaves 7... wonder if they had any contact with the Tom Stephens???

    well it's not like:

    Name: John
    Age: 56
    Occupation: Paedophile
    Interests: Kids

BUT you get the odd bulletin about how another paedophile was tracked down through myspace...

  • I was talking yesterday morning, to someone who works in the legal profession in London (and not toilet cleaner in a magistrates' court, either; a lot more high up than that ;)), and he was using phrases such as "rumours", "bait and switch", "senior police officer", amongst others. We'll see ...

  • It transpires that one of the jobs that the first arrested man had, at one point, was special constable.
