The fact that it was called so quickly means it is a big win for Obama. I think he we will get 55 or 57% of the vote.

I am thinking Clinton will IN by 5 or less.

Indiana's too early to call, but it's likely Clinton got that. Might be a pyrrhic victory, though, if it's too narrow. I can't see people throwing money at her.

There's good live coverage, here. It'll go onto different topics here and there, but there's some interesting analysis:

    CBS calls Indiana for Clinton.

Nothing on MSNBC or CNN yet. He has it down to 8, I would like to see that cut in half.

What's this speech about? Offering her the VP position? (I deal with subtext. ;))

Nope. It is a populous speech directed at the Democratic base. She will not be his VP. That is who he needs to re-connect with.

IN is "too close to call" now instead of "too early to call"...that is good news that IN will be very close.

I know, I was reading eight million different meanings into what he was saying. I always think, in politics, a victory speech is delivered to everyone except the obvious addressee. ;)

The BBC mentioned 4 points just now.

With the precincts that are still to report, Obama has a chance to win this thing. Worst case is that the number stays at four. Big win for Obama tonight with the popular vote, delegates, and bringing the momentum back to his camp.

I think you will see 12+ supers come out for Obama in the next couple of days.

The longer this goes, the better I feel about Obama's chances. The only county left is Lake County...which is right next to Chicago. He COULD win this.
  • FinsburyParkCarrotsFinsburyParkCarrots Seattle, WA Posts: 12,223
Have they started counting Lake County yet?
  • ledveddermanledvedderman Posts: 7,761
Yes. They are counting absentees now and release the numbers in an hour or so. That sounds like good news for Obama. That is abig city machine move, and could make her "victory" speech tonight be her own personal "Dewey Defeats Truman"

Well, she'll get her spin machine pushing more for Michigan and Florida, now. The Superdelegates may well come out in the next week or two, and settle this thing. She's the sausage who has the fork in her, she's done, but she won't accept it until the last bit of her explodes and takes everyone's eye out. (Metaphor (c) Fins 2008). :D

The Obama camp is actually the one offering the olive branch in regard to Florida and Michigan, and the reason is tha they know what everone will know shortly...this thing is fucking over.

I just heard the Clinton "victory" speech. She sounded spaced.
  • ledveddermanledvedderman Posts: 7,761
It was a very gracious speech on her part. I think she knew she had a very bad night, and the reality of the end of this soon was weighing on her.

The two major votes out in IN are Lake County and Bloomington, IL which is home to the University of Indiana---both should go heavily for Senator Obama.

    Bloomington IN :D

53 percent of the vote is in for Monroe county. Still 0 in Lake.

MSNBC must be reporting it wrong on Monroe.

My bad on the IL, I have Bloomington, IL on my mind. Only a couple of hours away from me.

the clinton lead is down to a little less than 2% in indiana! Obama can still win the damn thing! Man would i love to be a fly on the wall in Clinton's hotel room right now.

    Yeah, it's getting pretty exciting!

I turned it off for a bit when it was about 8 percentage points. Came back and it was 2!!!

Clinton cannot be happy with these results!

    May 20th...this thing is over.

Wesley Clark is urging her to drop out, the supers will be out in full force for Obama the rest of the week, and the fact that she loaned her campaign more money...this thing is over.
