good for him. then i hear he's going to assigned a bodyguard and a team of SAS for protection.
i'd like to think i heard this wrong on the news. though i imagine all the other soldiers in iraq wished they had their own SAS attachment to watch over them.
what is the point? he's a soldier, he's suppose to be his own protection.
am i being too hard on the little royal? i know he may want to be just like the common people but he's not. though i have to admit at least he's actually going to a warzone, unlike his father who wears all those ribbons and medals and hasn't even faced a shot in anger, except from the paparazzi.

From what I understand his father would never have been allowed to serve in a war zone. As 1st in line for the crown he was forbidden from it. Just like William is forbidden as well because he is 2nd in line for the crown.

forbidden. what a funny word. charles didn't go to war so don't wear the ribbons. that's my bone of contention. he didn't earn them, he doesn't deserve to wear them. and correct me if i'm wrong but i recall prince andrew being active during the falklands war and at that stage he was 2nd in line to the throne.

whatever happened to the days when the king lead his troops into battle. that's what i want to know.

yeah, i really miss the old monarchy days...

actually, if a the leader of a country actually had to be on the front lines we would probably be a more peaceful race.

I believe those days are for gone. Now the king sits on his throne and orders young men and women to go do that. Was Andrew 2nd in line? I thought that maybe William was already born knocking Andrew down a notch.

I do agree that he shouldn't wear the medals.

william was almost born if i remember correctly. but still even if he was an infant, how could he possibly take the throne if QEII and his father died. andrew would probably have been regent anyway.

  • aren't a lot of ribbons and medals issued for competencies rather than gallantry and heroism? they are probably the ones chuck wears.

i think harry and william should be encouraged to stay with their unit if deployed to iraq, but they pose an added danger to everyone they fight with. they'd be like a magnet for kidnapping and beheading attempts.

it might increase the level of support for UK involvement if it shown the government is willing to send the monarchs to war. maybe dubya should send the twins?

i respect the guy for wanting to fight for his country which is noble, BUT the rebels will have a field day when they hear they could take out a UK Prince which would be devastating

  • I think it's great that Harry is going to Iraq. From what I've read it seems like he is respected by other troops and will be a good leader. I think someone mentioned that an SAS team will be with him all the time. That's not exactly true. A team will be put in place to protect him if a situation ever arises. I don't think that means he will be patrolling Basara and 6 SAS guys will be surrounding him at all times.

i hope not cause that'd be stupid. not to mention the attention that'd draw.

From 7,000 to roughly 5,500 as 1,500 will be going home.

    horseshit.

    to dust i guess,
forgotten and absorbed into the earth below,..
  • Why does he need an SAS escort? Cant he just wave that magic stick or call on Warthogs are whatever he does in his movies?

    yep.

caste-system bullshit holds humanity 10 centuries slow, maybe more.

i guess at least there is some dignity in this chap for pursuing a sense of duty,.. i mean even the british army needs a waterboy.

but seriously though, in a world of ripe minds and able-bodies this would not even scratch the surface of what should be considered "news-worthy".

(sorry if i seem bitter cate,.. i carry no offense towards you or your comments).

I like that idea. Apparently George W knew how to fly a jet at one time, maybe he can go himself...

oh i agree monarchy and class is horseshit. basing anything purely along hereditary lines lacks common sense.

    "common sense"--ha,.. that's brilliant!

and perhaps this is the problem: whether christianity is at root or not--which is to say, "for whatever reason"--the majority of individuals alive today seem yet to truly value their lives above and beyond the mediocrity that has thus far re-defined 'the human being' throughout the progressive nature of history.

i wonder if britain experienced a violent revolt ala France last autumn if prince harry would be recalled to quell any physical uprising brought against Buckingham? somehow i doubt this, just as his "service" in iraq has about a .025% chance of becoming more realistic than figurative.

anyway, thanks for not being offended when i was so short in my previous post(s). later.-t.

    LOL.

    good point.
