Seeing as he has vowed to continue and escalate war in Afghanistan, the fundamental question is:

Where will he get the troops necessary for this endeavor?

Seeing as alot of troops in Iraq have been sent to Iraq and back home 4 or 5 times, do you really think ANY president would be able to persuade them to go back? And is even ethical to pull them from Iraq and put them in Afghanistan?

lets face it I doubt any large number of people will volunteer to fight a war even under an obama administration. Our generation views this war different than our grandparents viewed WWII which they largely viewed as a noble cause.

What would be unethical about that? I think Obama has been clear that his plan is to get troops out of Iraq and return the country to Iraq control, and send some of those troops home and some to Afghanistan to help give that country some stability like we should have years ago.
she was underwhelmed, if that's a word

never could figure out how anti-war voters could support obama.

whats needed in Afghanistan is much like what was needed in Iraq - a new strategy. however, many believe a troop surge is not the changed needed even though thats the "change" obama has always proposed. the iraq situation will be near its conclusion when obama takes office, and the country can do well years down the road. Afghanistan is a mess, with little hope for an economically viable country even if we "stabilize" the region. it'd be interesting to see how obama handles Afghanistan and Pakistan, since both those issues he was to the right of McCain.

    Yeah, but he said change.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.
