mccain conceeding key states, the large lead in the polls, the general excitement people seem to have for obama as opposed to mccain

is it the general consensus that obama will win in nov?

Seem to remember kerry being ahead as well at this point and everyone including myself who didnt vote kerry in 04 and could care less about him thought kerry was a shue-in

  • I thought Kerry was a longshot. My vote said "Kerry" in 04, but it was more of a vote against Bush.

  • may be true, but all polls including exit polls on the day of election 04 showed kerry winning.

I think McCain has decided Pennsylvania or bust.

If you look at this site ...

    http://www.electoral-vote.com/

... there's actually a spot on the right hand side that had "This day in 2004" ... if you play around with it ... you can see that the 2004 race was back and forth on the electoral count all the way leading up to the election ... flipping at least 3-4 times through the final 3 weeks between Kerry and Bush.

This time around, Obama has had a lead all the way through since mid September, and it's widening ...

McCain has pretty much given up in Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, New Mexico, Minnesota and Colorado is getting more and more out of reach ... McCain has to win Pennsylvania (while not losing Ohio or Florida), or he's done. And seeing as most polls are Obama +10 or so in Penn right now ... well, let's just say the fat lady is far from singing ... she hasn't even started warming up ... but she's certianly on her way to the theatre.

btw ... two weeks is a LONG time for something to happen ... so, again, it ain't over.

I'm still scared about the consequences of voter suppression in swing states, if McCain gets away with it.

I think the Obama numbers could be undone if young people don't bother to get their butts to the voting booths. I don't think the Democrats can count on winning until the morning after.

Unfortunately, old conservative people get out and vote more reliably.

I generally agree, but Obama is really encouraging people to vote early. The Albuquerque Journal today said that people are already waiting 2 hours in lines at early voting sites here.

Did anyone ever see that Simpsons episode where Bart runs for class president?
