Anyone know what needs to be done in order for a u.s. citizen to move to canada?

I heard there is a waiting list now, is this correct?

Or can a u.s. citizen just move their no problem?

If you want to do it legally, long term, it takes some planning and research:

It takes lots of money to do it legally.
I hear Mexico is much more open to American citizens.

lol. i'm moving to canada if ANY frontrunners--REGARDLESS of politcal alignment--become president. i mean sure, a drawer full of dirty socks would be an improvement from bush, but there's just NOBODY worth voting for that's leading either of the packs right now. it's sad.

If you are a skilled worker you would file to work here with that job and it would be easier. I think someone posted the link for you. Check it out!!

Yeah, I think if you move for work it's A LOT easier... A friend of mine got a job in Ottawa at the Corel Center a few years back, and the company basically took care of everything. I don't know however what happens to her status if she leaves that job.

I was thinking that the OP was exuding an arrogance of, "Hey, I'm American, we own the world, we can go wherever we like" !!

I think che has some major issues. He's gone from rabid lefty, to hippy, to loving new music, to moving to CAnada, while assuming that he can just do that, all in the space of about two weeks.
