Harry Reid, leader along with pelosi of the Dems, called today for more troops in Iraq, lock step in line with Bush's apparent push for thousands more troops.

Reid clarified that he only thinks more troops should be added for 2 to three months, but troops being added for 24 months or more is unacceptable.

Evidently he is also on crack.

Yeah, some opposition party, thanks Dems.

JERKS!

We are ruled by Republicrats. I say we need to stop voting for the repulicrat party.
  • well said LikeanOcean, the whole system is really rotten in my view in terms of Dems and Republicans. There is almost no difference in parties. Remember in the 2004 debates, Kerry was trying to out Republican George W and called for putting 10000 more troops in Iraq?

Very upsetting really. When will these guys grow some gut and break with their parties

Well, in order to 'WIN' over there... we need security to take effect. To gain security, we need more quality troops... not bullshit Iraqi troops who do not see allegiance to their country, rather allegiance to their religious sect (should have known that from the start).
    ...
BUT... it is a double sided sword... more U.S. troops means a higher visability of our presense there... which may lead to more violence against our troops.
    ...
Face it... this is a tough problem that was made tougher by our simpleton approach of guns blazing as a solution.
    ...
The BEST solution? In my opinion... more ARAB troops from neighboring countries to provide local security... and declare Martial Law throughout the country with a 10:00 curfew with shoot to kill orders authorized.
Hire Iraqi men to do the work, not Americans for over inflated wages. If you are going to pay someone 75,000 dollars to drive a truck... hire an Iraqi, not some asshole from Tennessee.
Better screening of the Iraqi army recruits. The Bush/Rumsfeld doctrine of quantity, instead of quality has given us 320,000 assholes that want to kill each other. We have trainned the militias and death squads over there. and you KNOW some Republican Guard and Fedayen slipped through and are in uniform, now. If you were a U.S. soldier over there... would you be trusting the guy on your back with an AK-74? I don't want them running the ammo depots.
Again... it's tough and we've screwed our military people by marching them deeper and deeper into this shithole. We bought Iraq... we need to fix it.

Bush was told way back when he invaded that he'd need more troops. He went in there with the minimum troops required to do a job of that size. Securing a nation is not an easy task.

I don't think it's news that rational polititians have been calling for more troops for some time. The generals have said it over and over again...but this is what happens when you let polititians play army man with our brothers and sisters.

IMO, if you go to war without listening to the advice of your military experts, you're going to lose...and shocker, guess who's losing? :(

You only say that because you buy into what they tell you pre-election. Then realize, that while you may not agree with Republicans, Democrats will tell you anything to get elected.

Patton would've ended this in 30 days.

  • It's not like they would allow some rogue to assume any type of leadership position in the first place. Anybody that tries any drastic shit gets 'suicided' or has a transportation 'mishap'. This type of thing is already scripted in advance, Reid goes along because he loves his life too much not to.

    Unfortunately...
Rumsfeld wouldn't have given him the proper equipment and cut his ranks by 62%. When Patton asked for more men and equipment, Rumsfeld would have ignored his request and asked around... the Pentagon... if Patton had enough resources until someone answered, "Yes".
Bremer would have gotten orders from Bush to hold fire to allow the 'Refugees' (which means everyone, including insurgent fighters) to slip out the back gate and on the road to Mosul before allowing Patton's stripped down armoured column to advance.
President Bush would have continued to tell us all that the War was going well and assigned Patton's division to paint the walls of an elementary school in Bashra.
    ...
Patton would have resigned in 30 days and wrote a book telling us all what a fucked up mess these civilian assholes have gotten his country into.

Thinking we can pull out now and everything will be O.K. is as overly optimistic as thinking we could go in and be greeted as liberators.

This is a war - and the shitheads who sold us this fuck-up should be punished. I've been against this war from the beginning and I'm against it now; but here we are - exactly where I thought we'd be. Want to impeach Bush? I'm all for it. Drag that smirking piece of shit out on a log, put him in stocks, and let us all chuck rotten eggs at his stupid monkey face.

But, still, here we are. Maybe more troops is the way to go, I'm not sure. Honestly, more troops or not, our plan for keeping the country "whole" isn't going to work. The three state plan seems best to me.

But here we are. For all those who supported this war, I hope you never forget what war entails. You half ass it, you go home making the our entire country look like fools. But, that's what this administration needed to do to get support - sell the population on an easy conflict. Blitzkr... Oh, I'm sorry, "Shock and Awe." Not enough people would have gone for this if they knew what really needed to be done - but they decided we were going in anyway, so they bought an inferior version of a product no one wants anymore.

Next time, war supporters, remember what war is. Please. Don't worry about "offending" people like me who never wanted this - we wouldn't have wanted it anyway. The death toll we have now - the one that's turning everyone against the war? We should have hit that mark in the first couple months. Doubled it by the end of the first year. Then, maybe by now, we'd have the satelite state you all wanted.

Too harsh for your sensibilities? Then don't start a damn war in the first place. You've made us all look like a bunch of wimps.

Now, as for more troops? I don't like the idea; but I don't like any of this anyway, so what's it matter? If more troops are needed to get us out sooner, so be it. If redeployment would work, I'm all for that too - in fact, I'd prefer it. But I'm not your target audience. My opinion? You failed the moment you dropped the first bomb in this blitzkr.... I mean "shock and awe" campaign.

I will say, I'm glad the Democrats are going to be in power soon - but I don't envy them with these paths they need to choose from. Nor do I think a Democratic majority/President would have gone for this. The lesson? Vote Green, vote Dem, vote Libertarian, vote Constitution, vote fucking Communist, but never vote Republican - or you'll be stuck cleaning up the mess, and you won't like the options.

    rant off.

I believe that half of the problem was this administration waging war of 'The Democrats', instead of focusing on Al Qaeda. Look at some of the threads you read in here... 'Liberals' are equated to 'Terrorists' by some. We were told that a vote for the Democrats is a vote for the Terrorists... which makes me sick. Americans with differing viewpoints is not the enemy. This nation is being divided and a divided nation will never succeed.
Dissent isn't treason... it is your Patriotic duty to defend the Constitution... even if it means from your OWN GOVERNMENT.
    ...
The other half is simply called, 'The Job'. Bush or his War supporter have never defined it to me. what is the job, anyway? How do we know when it is done? and if it needs to get done... supply the right tools and allot for the right man hours it'll take. We basically went to swap an engine in our car with only a sledge hammer, a pair of vice-grips and a big screwdriver. now, we got a big fucking mess... and like complete idiots... we stand there, scratching our heads and wondering, "What went wrong?".
