I remember really liking Mencia's stand-up routine. I saw something of his about 7 years ago and thought it was funny. Then I saw him do a 90 minute set at the Improv a few years ago. That was a great show. Not a huge fan of his TV show though. Of course, I was never much of a fan of Chapelle's show either.
  • My favourites are Carlin and Hedberg. I just love Hedberg's delivery, so dead pan, compared to Cook.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

Chapelle's show was friggin' genius. Mencia's got nothing on him. Mencia could be mildly entertaining at times. That said, I've probably seen an hour of his show, in about 10 minute increments, in my entire life.

What joke is it he's supposedly stolen? I haven't heard about it.

carlos's stand up rocks. i've been a fan since about 1992. i don't care for the show but i'm rolling on the floor at his stand up. he's got the balls to do what only the old greats would do. no PC. it's open season on everyone as comedy should be.

i'd never heard of this guy until i saw the video of joe rogan on stage calling him out for stealing other comedian's material. apparently he's pretty bad and well known in comedy circles as a hack.

he's also not even mexican, he's honduran and german, and his real name is ned holness.

Joe Rogan tried calling out dennis leary for the same thing. Joe Rogan should actually try being funny, before he calls people out.

You can't really compare Mencia to Carlin..Carlin is untouchable. He's in a league of his own. Henry Rollins is pretty funny. I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure it's Mitch Hedberg I can't stand. I always switch the station when I hear him on satellite. He's just not funny.

Carlin imo is hit or miss. Sometimes hes funny other times he blows.

Bring back the real comedians like Pryor, or Carlin, or Chappelle.

Chappelle in the same breath as Richard Pryor and George Carlin? No fuckin' way.

Redd Foxx, Robin Williams, Robert Klien, Bill Cosby, Lily Tomlin; hell yeah, either one of these should be in there. Not Chappelle.

Lewis Black, Denis Leary, Chris Rock, Ellen DeGeneres, Wanda Sykes, Sarah Silverman..funny stuff.

Agreed. His stand up is hilarious, as well.

As if that's new or something!

That's the kind of crap we used to say in junior high. I'm waiting for his next catch phrase "no duh!".

dennis leary did take parts of bill hicks act and use it on his cds as his own
    standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
    eager to identify with
    someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

I believe what Joe says, but miller has a point. Joe's no five star comedian either..

joe rogan being funny isn't the point, though. mencia (apparently) stole his jokes. it doesn't really matter how good they are.

i hate both of them anyway. if this get's mencia out of the spotlight, then i'm a happy man.

I miss Bill Hicks, that guy spoke so much of the truth, I love his bit on The Beatles and how they would get stoned and write the most amazing shit you've ever heard, and how the new kids on the block sucked satan's cock!

Mitch was awesome too....."I like to listen to loud music, but my neighbors don't like that very much, and I like to mess with their heads". When they bang on my wall, I yell, "go around, I cannot open the wall". An escalator can never break, it can only become stairs!
