There recent turn about and hardline stance against the war and refusal to sign funding for the war?

Some of us on here were against the war and the funding from BEFORE the war started.

As I always said. To win in 2008 the future president MUST win the antiwar vote.

Will Obama and Hilary get a free pass on this?

  • If they get enought people to believe they're actually anti war.
If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Obama was against the war from the start, and said so during his Senate campaign ... which was a pretty risky campaign maneuver, if you remember the atmosphere at that time.

Clinton, on the other hand .....

Barack Obama, I really think this man has alot to offer when he is president. Has the leadership skills in a president we have not seen in a long time, his is a liberal(+ in my opinion), been antiwar from the start, honest (admitted drug use in is teenage years), you cant attack the man on his Christian values, seems to commited in changing health care and improving school. I'm curious to how you can dislike the man. IMO Hilary Clinton has nothing on him and should clearly make it to the oval office.
  • Both Clinton and Obama were against an immediate pullout. I'm not sure what they're saying now but when the polls showed the american people wanted us out of Iraq, they both began to change their tune rather quickly. Who knows what they really will do...it seems to me that if they were so genuine about ending this war NOW, they would have been saying this months ago. Obama, at one point, had said we should stay there until the insurgency was defeated (and when will that be??). I just don't trust them, they seem to only say things when they think it's what the people want to hear not because it's how they really feel...you know, the same old run of the mill politicians that make us all wanna puke. Once one of them weasels their way into office we'll see how much 'change' they bring about.

"Good afternoon. Let me begin by saying that although this has been billed as an anti-war rally, I stand before you as someone who is not opposed to war in all circumstances.....I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars" - Barack Obama

does he get to define what a 'dumb war' is? what if i think attacking iran, which he supports, is a 'dumb war'??

    great post elkabong.

Thats why I dislike obama. That is the reason in a single post.

He isnt opposed to sending troops to iran and north korea.

Sure its great that people want our troops out of iraq, but sending troops back into combat in North Korea and Iran is just plain stupid.

I hate Bush, and will be glad when he is gone, but leand he is a complete idiots, but lets face it folks, even bush isnt stupid enough to start a war with iran and north korea!

Politicians. Therefore I don't have respect for them.

As for Hillary, I honestly believe that there is not a single issue she actually cares about. I don't think she cares about you or me, or global warming, or the troops dying in Iraq, the Iraqis dying; she just wants to be in the White House.

    Obama seems more typical.

    indeed.

clinton truly disappoints me. once upon a time, i truly supported her. when she got labelled with the whole carpet-bagger status for running for the senate in my state, i supported her b/c i truly did believe she really had such a passion and drive, really wanted to do something to affect change, etc. i think nowadays, she simply soooo wants to be in the game, get the white house...that she'll just about say or do anything. it's a shame. she IS such an intelligent woman, she has the chops....but yea....it's almost like she's too eager, and for all the wrong reasons. obama, i wait to see what develops and what i think, along with everyone else.
    Stay with me...
