Why do people think Obama is not a politician?

He is a politician. He has served in the Senate. He was elected. His campaign is funded by corporations.

Why do people act like he isnt a liar? If he was an honest guy he would be the first politician that ever was!

All he cares about is getting elected. And its really not his fault. Every politician wants to be elected. The problem lies in what they do to get elected. Obama is funded by the same people who elect every official.

Politicians, always pander. Every single one. They go to the inner city or some rural area, that needs assistance, throw some bones to the citizens there ("I will help you all get jobs, I will lower health care costs"). But then they never come back. They never follow up. Nothing is ever done.

The inner city drug and crime problem came to the public fore in the early 80's with the rise of crack. How many politicians have promised to do something about it?

I dont put faith in politicians. They are ALL liars. Just because someone has a D next to their name doesnt make them some kind of savior.

    This thread reminds me of the start of Attack of the Clones, where Anakin talks about his respect for Palpatine, and Obi Wan says something like, "Palpatine is a politician, and uses the trends and passions of the people to his own advantage."

    Hopefully the relevance of that quote outweighs the nerdiness of it.
