What a bunch of clowns.
Absolutely! Christians....Muslims...whatever. Same idiots.
But it's okay when Christians do it, because (allegedly) Jesus/God told them it's okay:rolleyes: Sound familiar?
A statement from Left Behind Games Inc.
Troy A. Lyndon, Chief Executive Officer
Recently, much controversy has ensued due to published articles in the media which discuss the violence in our upcoming game, Left Behind: Eternal Forces. However, references to “praise the lord and pass the ammunition” or “kill in the name of God” or others were made by journalists spreading misinformation, which is absolutely not true. And for this reason, I have published this statement.
There is no blood or gore in Left Behind: Eternal Forces. The game is designed to be a classic battle between good and evil, but it does not gratuitously depict violence or death.
Others are concerned about the pre-trib religious doctrine believed by the Left Behind authors. Left Behind is not the Bible, it is a fictional story and accordingly, situations resulting from the stories' post-apocalyptic time-frame are used to encourage gamers to think about matters of eternal significance, a topic largely ignored by modern games.
Because our game is a ‘strategy' game, never does a player click a key or press a button to actuate a first-person violent act. Instead, control is managed by the player in much the same way as an animated chess game would be when pieces fight for position, except that in ‘real-time' strategy games, many pieces fight for position at the same time.
In Left Behind: Eternal Forces, the players' objective is to find ‘tribulation clues', which include Bible mysteries, codes and fascinating and eternally relevant information. In the initial missions, there is little emphasis on physical warfare and gamers are introduced to powers of influence which result in a battle for the hearts and minds of people. As missions progress, there are no ‘objectives' to cause war physically. However, physical warfare results when the player is required to defend against the physical forces of evil; led by the Global Community Peacekeepers.
Several months ago, there was a news story with erroneous information about the game. Unfortunately, some readers accepted the misinformation as being factual, and then the rumor mill and the blogs were off and running.
If you hear someone making negative statements about this game, we encourage you to ask if they have personally reviewed the game. If they are merely passing on hearsay, it is false and misleading information.
At Left Behind Games, we are dedicated to making great games. Left Behind: Eternal Forces is coming to the PC and will be released on October 2006. We believe it will be a great day!

Oh yeah, if a Christian makes a video game, it is evil. But you'll let your kids pretend to have sex with a prostitute and then run her over with a car and steal her money, and that game is fine. Hypocrites.
cos my kid would know that's just a game and i would in no way ever encourage them to do any such behavior. this game is supposed to reflect the "reality" of the tribulation (ask hailhailkc, he buys into that crap) and mixes objectives... killing and preaching, war and conversion. there are mixed signals. some things you ARE supposed to do and some that you ARENT. it's a sick way to snare kids into being "soldiers of christ." point me to one example of a kid anywhere in this country who became a hardcore gangster due to grand theft auto.
Exactly. It sounds like this game is teaching intolerence. It is using the Christain faith to do it. People follow religion. Nobody follows the guys off of GTA and decide to go out and run over people and steal their money. People know it's not real but the Christian faith is real and shouldn't be twisted to breed intolerence. I wonder how Christians would feel about a game where the goal was for Muslims to convert and kill? Would you want all the little arab kids playing this game? Riiight. People take faith very seriously and religions have plenty of fanatics these days, so yeah there's a big difference.

Also, I don't understand. Are violent games only OK if they do not have a Christian theme? If you're going to be against these games, then in my opinion you're a hypocrite if you're not against ALL violent games.

Why are the "evil forces" called "Global Community Peacekeepers"?
I haven't read the books, but if my child was playing this game, how do I explain to her why the "peacekeepers" are evil?
sounds like nonesense

It's creepy. Let's use Doom as an example. In that game, you are tasked with fighting the forces of Hell. You use your gun to kill demons and reanimated corpses - even decending into the depths of Hell itself to take on the damned in their home territory. But these are demons - and there's no question about that. In this Left Behind game you also take on the forces of Hell - and it's your next door neighbor with the Muslim sounding name. And, to top that off, the people who will likely play this game really believe it. For reals. That, I think, is the difference.
However, I don't support the censorship of this game. The last thing we need is to ban something - particularly from the martyr loving perpetual victims who'll only use the ban as an example of our society's abject hatred of Christianity (whether that hatred exists or not).
No, again I endorse the "point and laugh" approach. Let's all make fun of the people who take this shit too seriously - on both sides, sure, but especially for those who purchase this game. Hell, from a strictly technical and objective standpoint, I hear it isn't even that good of a title.
Can you see me now
I am myself
Like you somehow
I'll ride the wave
Where it takes me
I'll hold the pain
Release me
I personally do not see any difference between that and killing in the name of your country.....or killing in the name of anything for that matter - your favorite football team, your book club, etc.
How many of those violent games have a U.S. soldier killing enemies? Can you really tell me that is different than this?
The real problem seems to be that it has a Christian label, and therefore many people are automatically against it. Even if it makes them hypocrites.
