With a Lt. Col.'s salary, that family can afford to have something like that made. When I was a kid living off my dad's enlisted salary, just being able to pay to have a roll of film developed was kind of a big thing. After snapping photos of family vacations, we'd have to wait until the following payday to have the film developed. There's just no way we could've afforded to have a photo blown up and affixed to a piece of cardboard. It would've meant missing a couple of meals. Commissioned families live like kings while enlisted families struggle to make ends meet. If those kids in that article think they got it so bad, they should think of all the enlisted families out there who have to go through the same thing, except w/o the cushy officer's housing, the preferred parking spaces at the px, and the extra money to buy luxury items such as life-sized photos of their dad. They should think of how our hard-earned taxpayer dollars are funding a government that practically pisses on the heads of those who make the greatest sacrifices for this country.
