can seize laptops without probable cause...for as long as they want....
man, this country is falling so far from its ideals...
how is that not a violation of the bill of rights, where the govt needs probable cause for search and seizure???

It is fucking bullshit, and should be a violation of the 4th amendment. But with our new fear-based Department of Homeland Security, and the Patriot Act that friends like Obama and McCain are proud to vote for, I guess this is what we can continue to expect. It is one thing to check it for explosives. It is quite another to confiscate it, turn it on, and look at the data.

There are large companies like Accenture (used to be Arthur Anderson) who now issue employees "clean" laptops before those employees travel internationally, so that no company confidential data could possibly be exposed to the crooks running our federal government.

It's not just for the border or its agents and not just for this country. It's for 'competent authorities' everywhere.

    Have you heard about ACTA?

To sum things up: We're fucked.

Our rights are deteriorating every minute and there's barely a peep about it. It makes me feel slightly vindictive towards the distracted. Nevermind what I feel about the direct perpetrators.

Like anyone who opposes Obama when he takes office.
I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

Yes, it is scary. We are living in the world of Big Brother. It scares me to death, but it doesn't seem to bother any of my friends, acquaintances or family. The freedoms that our founding fathers fought so hard for are being whittled away.

I am sure they would be turning over in their graves right now to see what has been taking place recently. through all the troubles and conflicts this country has been able to make it through.....now this, for the greatest superpower in the world to crush a small band of guys hiding in caves half a world away.

i've seen many good sig quotes by folks on here from founding fathers...or early presidents warning against this very thing...

I've been listening to a lot of RATM lately. It just hits home like nothing else. And they made that music a while ago. Zach must be triply frustrated by now.
What's most frustrating is that nobody cares. Wooo, Americans are turning into mindless drones and they don't even notice it. That's great.

    Margaritas sound good :)
