anyone see this Chevy truck commercial? Its got John Mellencamp singing "This is our Country"...and in the commercial there are images ranging from 9/11, Martin Luther King, Jr., Vietnam, President Nixon...and all kinds of stuff.

I thought of a pj show i saw in LA and Ed was talking about how he wanted them to take all the Truck and Vehicle ads down from the stadium before they played....I bet this commercial REALLY pisses him off......

Hopefully Ed isnt the kind of loser that gets all angry and bent out of shape over a tv commercial.

He certainly isn't the type of loser that falls for it. Free yellow ribbon with every purchase.

sorry..no worries. it actually does piss me off they would use those images to sell a vehicle though. so i don't think someone is a 'loser' if that commercial makes them angry, to be honest.

Kind of off topic. Is it just me, or does the song sound a lot like a Bruce Springsteen song?? Off of his 'The Rising' album.

Am I going crazy? Or anyone else hear what I hear?

I finally saw it. It's pretty rediculous. I'm sure Martin Luther King would have LOVED to have been on a Chevy truck commerical though.

As bad as it is, it is not worth getting worked up over.
I cannot come up with a new sig till I get this egg off my face.

I hate how they have Rosa Parks on that commerical. Seriously. I'm sure she would appreciate her image being used to sell trucks.

Melencamp is a sell out and he writes the same song over and over.

see, i have no problem with melloncamps music, but this commercial is shameful. i have lost alot of respect for him with this stunt. i cant say i have no respect for him due to his efforts with Vote For Change and everything he does for Farm Aid........ but this does soil his image a little. too bad.
  • I like the Earnhardt placement in the ad, that part comes off as such an obvious shill for the southern demographic. You know the exec's were chiming in something about getting a white face in there in between Ali, Rosa Parks, and the Katrina stuff.

The commercial is sick. If it doesn't make you angry that honest, good people's images and tragic events are being used to sell trucks, I don't know what can.

Doesn't make me angry at all. They showed Dale Earnhardt, oh my god! The song does suck though.

i'm dissappointed he is doing a truck commercial, but, make no bones about it, Mellencamp kicks ass.

Capitalism knows no bounds. Using tragedy and resistance and images from the class war to sell a product. A shame, but not surprising.

The second part is coherent, and I pretty much agree with, the first one, I simply don't get. Can you explain? Via PM if you'd like. I didnt know soap made you taller either?
