asked who she voted for today, she replied:

I don't have to tell anyone who I vote for! Nobody does. And that's really cool about America."

Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska was found guilty of filing false financial reports. So technically he is a felon because, I believe, they where felony charges. You know our system is all fucked up when a felon isn't allowed to vote but he can still run for office.

What's the deal with felons not being allowed to vote? I mean to me once you have served your time and paid your debt to society you should be allowed to vote. Otherwise you just remind these people every election day that even if they have made up for their crimes they are still nothing but a criminal. Do they think that if someone with a criminal record is allowed in the polling station they are going to rob the voluenteers?

Obviously they are afraid to let the felons vote for fear that they will vote to let the felons vote....ahem......:D

I agree... Once you fulfilled your sentence, probation, parole or whatever, you should be allowed to vote in my opinion.

DC voted in a convicted crack addict/user as mayor, why not let alaska vote in a felon into the senate?

Laws regarding voting rights of felons and ex felons vary from state to state.

I'm on the fence about this. Having the right to vote taken away is another incentive to not commit felonies. You are responsible for your actions. You don't want to be "just a criminal?" Well, don't be a criminal at all and you don't have to worry about that. You say you served your sentence and that should be that? I agree; but you can argue that having the vote taken away is part of the sentence.

On the other hand, people make bad choices sometimes, and sometimes it's not a representation of that person. I don't know.

  • maybe she didn't want to talk about who she voted for because she voted for Obama?
