Shut the fuck up about "the status quo" and their desperation to hold on,
and shut the fuck up about the apocalyptic end of the environment.

As a matter of fact, Mr Gore ... just shut the fuck up.

OMFG.
way too bugged out about too many things to even get in to it.
People are buying this shit?
People are CHEERING for this shit?

He should go ahead and hand out cyanide pills so we can all just get out of the way of Mother Nature.

Wow.

I can't even tell you how many books on environmental design, and all kinds of green hoo-hah is on my shelves ... but i NEVER thought i would hear some BS politician using it as leverage to service some "status quo" agenda in sheeps clothing.

If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

Governor of VA's speech was lame. The whole mustard seed/mountain deal was dumb, and he was pretty uninspiring. I enjoyed Richardson's speech. He speaks with enthusiasm, has personality, and took some jabs. No way I could listen to Gore. I switched from Convention coverage to cage fighting.

Susan Eisenhower is fine. I just cringe every time I hear the word hope. Quit fucking hoping and start fucking doing. Jesus Christ. Maybe someday the dems can switch from the party of "hope" to the party of "try a little".

Really...he's rich..doesn't need to do anything...yet he has a conviction....and that conviction is to help this country...

Obama's the man...plain and simple..we have to give him a chance..he's different..like it, accept it or not...but if you care about this country, your children....

I loved Al Gore's speech. He said things no one else had--the hard stuff and the true stuff. God...if only he had taken his rightful place as president of this country instead of turned it over to an incompetent and his greedy handlers. We be living in a much better, safer place.

    Who's crippled us?

It's just a fact, we NEED oil. We wouldn't be where we are without it. It fueled industrial & technological expansion. Wind and solar power are just not gonna cut it. We're talking the heavy duty stuff here, factories, power plants, every kind of industry. Ethanol, natural gas, wind power, solar power, and hydrogen are just not up to par with oil in that regard. Natural Gas comes close but we forget that, were we to power cars with it, the huge demand would jack the prices up, probably even higher than oil. There's no conspiracy going on, oil is a necessary resource. It's just unfortunate that we've come to rely solely on foreign oil, and that we've choked the industry with so much regulation as far as actually refining the oil. AND THEN we have nutjobs like Obama and Pelosi who are opposed to off-shore drilling because it's just a "stop-gap measure" (from Obama's speech just tonight). That's where the high price comes from. It's basic economics.
I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

I thought it was fantastic, myself. He's as good as speakers get and the words were damned eloquent.

The most surprising thing about his speech was the fact that he said "Sleight of Hand" and there wasn't 8 threads on the Porch about it :p
