Are America's Presidential Straw Polls Rigged? Are they being spammed?

I'm just curious.
Because i've seen the TOTAL results for ALL polls registered and held in this country, and the results look funny:
As of October 9, 2007, there have been 33 individual straw polls held across America.
Of the 33 completed straw polls to-date,
Ron Paul has finished:

1st - in 15 polls
2nd - in 6 polls
3rd - in 6 polls
4th - in 3 polls
5th - in 1 poll
6th - in 2 polls

That's a top three finish in 27 of 33 Straw Polls (or 82%).

Is this guy buying out the straw polls?
Is he secretly organizing them and not claiming sponsorship.

I would like some serious answers and discussions about what you folks see as the possible reason this guy is up so high in SO many of these polls.

It strikes me as curious.
Surely his supporters can't be spamming EVERYTHING !!?!!

Hmm.

  • I'd be suprised if he had that much support in the republican party. I dont know how scientific straw polls are.
  • All politicians are liars, have their own agenda and use the public to gain power. Every election is rigged. Nothing is sacred. Voting is just a means to patronize the public into quiet subjection. This way people think they are involved when in reality, it doesn't matter how or if you vote. The powers at be are going to elect whomever they want in whatever position it is. If you didn't learn that by the Bush election fiasco, then I got a beautiful island oasis to sell you in Erg Chebbi.

not rigged but far from scientific. Some you have to buy tickets for, some you have to have been a former delegate. There are too many factors not controlled to put too much stock in them. However, if you win them that is one more time your candidate is in the spotlight or news for winning something.

  • i saw a fox news poll over the weekend that had democrats supporting hillary at 50% and obama at 18%, edwards at 11%, on down the line. it seemed more propaganda than anything else, i can't see her being that far ahead.

haha thanks, Morphius. Good to know nothing is real. I forget, is it the blue pill or the red pill i'm supposed to take to forget i ever came on the Moving Train?
  • The primaries will shake a lot of things up. They usually do. I'm not paying too much attention to polls right now
  • Ron won his THIRD STRAIGHT New Hampshire straw poll.
This was a County GOP sponsored poll:
    here it is

blue. definitely blue. shit or was it red. fuck I dont know. I did think his response was funny. fuck why not just jump off the bridge already.
  • ANOTHER win for Ron.

    I'll be honest,
it will be very sad if he doesn't make a good showing in the primaries.

    My actual thinking is this:

Right now, if people were asked "who will be the nominee", the majority will probably say Guiliani or Romney. In fact, if the nation as a WHOLE actually voted 100% in the primariers, they would likely GET the nomination.

    HOWEVER,
    given these straw poll showings,
which show the OVERWHELMING INVOLVEMENT IN THE PROCESS OF RON PAUL SUPPORTERS, and the general lack of enthusiasm for the other candidates, I BELIEVE RON PAUL ACTUALLY HAS A MUCH BETTER CHANCE than some of the major news polls show.

The problem with the major polls is they are showing potential NON-VOTERS ... people who are armchair voters, those that may and probalby WILL NOT SHOW UP AT THE PRIMARIERS.

I think these straw polls are a good indication of the general lack of enthusiasm in primaries. But NOT FOR RON PAUL SUPPORTERS ... they are MOBILIZED IN MASS!

    I dunno.
    Think about it.
They may be the true minority, and maybe by far ....
but if only 2% of the population shows up for the primariers (what is the statistic, it is patheticaly low, right?) ... if only 2% show up, but 90% of Ron Paul supporters show up (and they represent only 5% of the nation) ... BADA BING!a
