I'm a Libertarian, but decided to play a Republican at this year's caucus. I cast my vote for Paul not because he's my perfect candidate, or because I think he can win, but because the Republican Party has been drinking too much of their own KoolAid and it is probably healthy for them to have to listen to Ron Paul once in awhile.

That being said, based on my statistically invalid sample size of 1 precinct, Paul certainly did not dominate in delegate count. I happened to be elected as a delegate to the county convention for Paul, but here's how our precinct shook out (we had 7 delegates):

    Huckabee - 3
    Uncommitted - 2
    Paul - 1
    McCain - 1

The message for me is that the Republican Party activists are not happy with McCain. The uncommitteds both said their guy dropped out and they'll support whomever gets the nod, but wouldn't go so far as to officially endorse McCain. 2 of the 3 Huckabee supporters said the same thing. So it looks like most of them will only grudgingly vote for McCain.

So Paul got 1 out of 7 delegates from my precinct. We started out pooled with 4 other precincts, and I know Paul got 1 out of 4 in another one, and 0 out of 2 and 0 out of 6 in the other 2. Hardly a win, and hardly a victory.

There were no clear winners, but McCain was a clear loser only because he can't count on enthusiastic support from the grassroots. I still think if Obama gets the nod on the Dem side, he wins because most of these Republicans stay home. If Hillary gets the nod, McCain wins, because these people will come out and cast a vote against Hillary.

Well, you did say yourself your sample size is piss poor.

    Look, i'm with you.
    It sounds improbable.

But all i can do is go on BEST INFORMATION,
and so far that is coming from the Washington State Ron Paul Coordinator,
and so far that observation is "Ron Paul got most delegates" ...

so until MORE information comes in,
i'm going to continue to keep my head up my ass and believe it.

The popular vote certainly doesn't make it entirely out of the realm ... it was Rons strongest showing so far, i believe.

    :D

They stopped counting at like 93% or 97% of all the totals counted.

He was only behind by a couple hundred votes, with 1500+ left to count when the count was stopped.

why wouldn't they count 100% of the vote?

This Email Just in from the Washington State Coordinator!

    Hello everyone,
By our very preliminary count from you reports it is looking like we have at least twice the delegates as the other candidates!!
For this day and until the count shows otherwise I want you to congratulate yourselves for WINNING Washington State for Ron Paul!!
I wish I could share every single story I have heard over the past few days and all the happy reports from Ron Paul enclaves in WA towns I have never even heard of!
Please know this…the National Campaign is seeing these kind of successes all over the country…Every day that goes by we have new supporters and new contributers. I can't believe I am saying this…I thought certainly I would sleep for 4 days once the 9th was over…but I am already so excited to prepare for our County Conventions!! The next few weeks are going to be very important…There were stories from almost every precinct about Huckabee and Romney voters changing their support to Ron Paul. Unfortunately some of the biggest threats to the Freedom Revolution can still come from within…our own perceptions…please read Ron's letter again until you see the part that states he we are going to the National Convention! You know things have changed every day in this campaign with new information and new victories changing the course…now we have given him Washington and made the road to the Minneapolis a lot more golden!!
I will update you all when we get more final results…
You all did a wonderful job. Just wonderful.

People SIT BACK AND GET READY,
because IF THIS THING GOES TO BROKERED CONVENTION, and IF they can't get 1192 delegates to pick ONE NeoCon POS ont he first ballot,

ALL THE RON PAUL DELEGATES WHO ARE BOUND and must legaly vote for the straw poll winner in their state ... BECOME UNBOUND AND CAN VOTE FOR RON PAUL.

The number of states where Ron Paul has 50% of the delegates or nearly so is astounding.

We also apparently have a bunch of "plants" ... delegates who will vote for Ron Paul if UNBOUND but who ran as Romney or Huckabee delegates, just to sneak on to ballots.

HEY, POLITICS IS FUCKING DIRTY SHIT!

    :D:D:D

Ron Paul will not win. Neither will the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus. Ron Paul's suporters remind me of Lyndon LaRouche supporters. Either figure it out or keep drinking the kool aid...

People are tired of these corporate candidates, they bring 4 years of the same shit we've seen for over 6 decades. Its time for a candidate that actually cares about the people. I dont' think Ron Paul would be a good president, but at least he seems sincere.

Its why Nader was so appealing. We just need to get the majority of elligble voters that don't vote every presidential election off their asses and put in a president that is actually looking out for the working class. And it has to start somewhere.

    You know what,
i could really give a fuck about his chances as far as my vote goes.

I hope your not just voting for the same old asshole just because you want to be on the winning ticket ... that is lame-o.

If, instead, you are just being a little ... mmm mmm mmm .... (as ed would say) .... and trying to get me down ... i could equaly not be less concerned with your words ...

all that matters, imho, is that Ron Paul has motivated a LARGE base that is now actively involved in trying to restore liberty to the process.

If that offends you, then i hear they are looking for a few good folks over in China and Iran.
