Typical First Show of a Tour?

so besides it being kick ass, how would you compare the first show of a tour to say, a show thats more in the middle of a tour? would you say the band isn't as "in sync" with each other as in later shows? or just the same?

I'm hoping that WPB is gonna be my first PJ show EVER, so I'm BEYOND excited to say the least.

Generally the first couple of shows of any tour or leg are a little on the weak side since the band is fairly conservative and just getting back in to the groove. You likely won't be seeing too many rare songs, but the shows will still be great!

Gotcha. I really don't care WHAT songs they play, it's not like I'm gonna be bored of hearing any songs since it's my first ever.

I totally agree with Beer Baron - the first show of a tour is definitely a great one to be at...just looking at the action on the board this week shows how much we all anticipate the start of the tour. That being said, don't expect the band to be in full tour form just yet. I for one was pretty disappointed with Toronto 06 I, especially when I saw the setlist from night II.

There are no bad shows...just variability I suppose...

A bit off topic, what are the nearest airports to WPB? I'm looking for something international so I wouldn't have to fly to Dallas first. Not that I'm going to go, but if I did, I'd like to have an idea at what I'd be looking at.

ft. lauderdale is the closest major international airport i can think of. not sure if there's a smaller airport in west palm?! or miami is always an option, though that'd be a little bit of a drive north.

The energy from the CROWD on the first few dates is always pretty insane ... especialy if they "uLEASH" something rare, new, or currently out of rotation.

    So?

But they ALL kick ass, generaly.

perhaps i misunderstood your previous post, but when i read "Well, Albany was the second show in '06" i took that literally, and, well, it's literally not correct if you're speaking about the N.A. leg since the Toronto shows were nights 1 and 2 on that leg :)

unless you're looking at the WorldWide06 tour schedule differently, in which case please elaborate,...

I went to the first few shows in 2003 Australia (Brisbane), all the shows were good. In saying that, they sounded way better in 2006, where Oz was at the end of the tour...

How good the sound is also depends on the venue....

As a frame of reference, Toronto 1 included alot of the setlist pillars ( Even Flow , GTF, Daughter, DTE, Corduroy , Alive , Betterman for example) and seven Avocado cuts. Unless there's a new release, you have to figure on more setlist slots for surprises.
