story:
thought this was moving.
video: watch here for full video, or else you don't get to see the end with the wife introduction. pretty touching.
you don't have to read the dang story.
just watch the video.
i tried not to get like the Katie wannabe did,
but it is pretty moving.
I think this plays to the part of man that understands the schism he has created between himself and nature. this short clip somehow gets in there and pulls at that notion, forcing a reflection on that relationship.

If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

And then added to that is the connection you get when you raise an animal. I had my horses protect me so many times growing up! The horses born on our farm were much more attached to us than the ones we bought...
It also helps to illustrate the fact that we ARE all connected.

~I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance than I should have been by any epaulette I could have worn.~

But let's not get too carried away. All big cats are still ruled mostly by instinct and any human's actions.....body language or body motions; can trigger an instinctive reaction in the big cats and all bets are off.
It seems the most important factor is to not run away from them or to put oneself in a cowering or submissive position, because that triggers the "prey" mechanism in their brains/instinct.
You notice that when the lion comes running towards them neither one took a step back, behaved unconfident or even put their hands up in a defensive manner. They both met the lion head on and hugged him and petted him.
But the other amazing thing, and in my mind even more significant; is that Christian's mate comes to them later and also behaves in a tame and friendly manner. Now, Christian's mate was not raised by these two guys and I assume that female lion didn't know those two humans at all. But yet, she joined in, sniffed around some, rubbed on them and got petted.
Which in my mind is truely amazing.
Now, I don't know if she was raised by humans....different humans and released into the wild when she became mature, like Christian. Even if she was, it's still amazing.
Those two guys knew what they were doing it.
Don't try this at home or at your local zoo:D
