I mean ... i usually have a serious bend in the other political direction ... but on everything except ... cough cough ... sadly ... abortion ... he seems like a fucking GOD SEND!

I mean ... this guy is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY the fuck off the map of the political spectrum in terms of what he is willing to discuss openly and with great sincerity ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWfIhFhelm8

Abolishment of the Federal Reserve
Abolishment of the CIA
Abolishment of the Federal Income Tax \ IRS
Renounces nation building and meddling with sovereign nations affairs
Withdrawal from Iraq - ASAP
Abandoning the war on drugs
States Allowed to choose their own stance on medical marijuana
States allowed to choose whether to grow industrial hemp or not
Balanced budgets
No tax raises
No Federal Involvement in Education
No increases in congressional pay

the fucking list goes on and on ...

like i said ... the ONLY thing that scares me is his opinion on abortion ... which stems from years as a practicing OBGYN and he does admit to having affection for personal religion ... but NOT state endorsed religion!

IS THIS GUY TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE?

How come i see VERY LITTLE discussion of this fellow?

I would pick him over ANY Dem. nominee in a HEART BEAT ... maybe even Gore if he should run ... infact the ONLY thing i really admire about gore is his environmental stance ... other than that, he's just another puppet to me.

RP does NOT seem to be controlled by any one.

Funny shit from Bill Maher ...

The president, who in comparion to the two maybe three other candidates more closely matches your "political" views.

not many willing to vote for a good president

I guess voters don't think we necessarily need a good president
  • The reason why you see such little discussion is because there is an active crusade to kill this guy's campaign.

I don't mean a total hippie annhilation of all that the US of A holds dear.

    And I'm a hippie.

I like Ron Paul's viewpoints, I like Dennis Kucinich's and even Mike Gravel's too.

But we have to stay somewhat mainstream, folks.

Hell, even I, the Grand Bu Meister, realizes that Obama himself may be a pipe dream. But at least he's got some numbers behind him.

    Pipe dream v. Main stream.

That's always been the issue with honest candidates who know what's going on. Why not try taking little baby steps towards freedom of the people, for the people, by the people?

Ron Paul is the shit. Everyone from the Dems and Repubs should just vote for him because he knows what the fuck he's doing...ditch the mainstream.

Ron Paul knows what individual liberty is all about. The traditional parties are corrupt - Ron Paul is outside the mainstream and trustworthy.

Well Bu, ya know you can't trust the media to talk to much about the good guys.

But we can join local political organizations, in the meantime, and start talking with people who might not otherwise give a damn about politics, and we can start movements.

I did it with Barack's campaign, and it's going very well.

The candidates that the media is supporting are bullshit. Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul should sit down and have a fucking debate about the issues. Perhaps the majority of americans wouldn't understand wtf they're talking about, but hell, it would be a REAL DISCUSSION about what we're confronting.

I'm only saying that just because a candidate has had less exposure and is less known, doesn't mean they aren't worth the time...those are the guys we need to be rallying behind. Become the media.

Until I started reading your posts here in AMT, I didn't even know who Kucinich and Paul were.

And talking HERE isn't enough. If you think this country is going to change because all of us here in the Pearl Jam Message Pit want change, I'm sorry to say that isn't enough.

Both of those guys are talking their heads off.

And who said anything about only using the message pit to get the word out?

And he's still considered to be "second tier" compared to Hillary, by some, and Hillary is still considered to be ridiculous compared to the GOP, by most.

    well,
    that's enlightening.
i'm not even sure what position you just took.
more serious problems about Ron Pauls record & platform?
or more serious problems in this world?

Well, it seems that is what the media, the democrats and even the republicans want us to think - that no one or at the very least not enough people know about him to make a difference. I'll admit it IS a long shot but he does have a strong "internet" following and that's a start. People are waking up. And about damn time too. I have never been more encouraged about America's future than I have these last few months. For the first time in my life I believe we have a chance to make a change in government as well as our quality of life (the quality of liberty in our lives). At this time I think Ron Paul may very well be our best chance for that. And I think if we stay positive and do our parts to "get the word out" and help educate, he has a much better chance than what the media lets on.

An example of this is that recently I sat my parents down to inform them of Ron Paul. Knowing full well that they weren't aware of him because they rely on what mainstream media tells them. I compiled some information that highlighted some of Ron Paul's more important points and showed it to them so they could make a more informed decision on the Presidential Candidacy. I can happily say that doing so has wet their appetite and they are now searching out more information on their own.

I like Ron Paul. Though I disagree with his libertarian views and statements about "the creator" I'd like to see him take on the CIA and the Fed. If he succeeds, then I'm wrong about American Politics.

i like a good bit of what he has to say....but, i feel i personally can not support him b/c of his views on healthcare, business and regulations (like environmental and worker's rights)....i think there was 1 or 2 other things, but those were the big ones...i didn't like that he refused to accept medicare/medicaid in his practice

i think that view would leave a lot of ppl w/o and not b/c they are layabouts
    standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
    eager to identify with
    someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

  • Ron Paul (my take)

    Pros
    -for non interventionalist foreign policy
-wants to get out of the middle east
    - Israel policy would drastically change
    - anti war on drugs
    - pro civil liberties protection
    - against patriot act
    - pro choice
    - slim down wasteful govt programs

    Cons
    - pro free trade polices with little to no regulation
    - anti UHC, medicare/aid
    - anti all of the government programs that I see as needed esp the social ones (education, student loans, welfare, disaster relief etc)
    - gives business the green light to do whatever with no environmental or worker's rights regulations (feel free to correct me...I could be taking him wrong)
    - seems to have a huge isolationist outlook...quite concerned with self interest with no signs of altruism and compassion for unfortunate circumstances.

All and all...there's no way I could support him, personally. His views on how to handle poverty/the less fortunate, his capitalistic/free trade economics and lack of offering protection to the people and environment from the abuses of business are the exact opposite of my own views.
