    I can understand why people who are not quite as sophomoric as a select few on this board may want a more "refined" conversation, but hey, it's a rock and roll band's message board, not a philosophy thread.

    Was it Zappa who said, "They're just WORDS" ?

    As a fan of George Carlin myself I've never understood the thought process behind why one word is "bad" and another is okay. (see "seven dirty words") It's a cultural thing I suppose, but words only take on the meaning you give them.

    In my world the use of "bad" words doesn't have any bearing on my self esteem or well being. In NYC the F word is truly the universal adjective and may be found prominently displayed on knock off designer wear on Canal Street. Does this upset me? No. Like the people who post their so called profanity here I find it mildly amusing. And I grew up with 3 brothers. Name calling can be a form of affection in some circles (see Brooklyn) :D

    Sticks and stones bro. Words can only hurt you if you let them.

    Which is why I think banning people from the message boards for their words is a ludicrous fascist move and one I'd personally like to see change. But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

    i can't support this petition. it's a great word if for no other reason than comical misspellings. my brother once left an old yearbook on the passenger seat of our shared car. i glanced over at it while driving and got laughing so hard i crashed into a pole. in giant, 8th grade handwriting it read: BILL, YOU ARE A DUSHBAG.

    I knew it was douchebag from the moment I read the OP's post... i have read that word several times on here, and that word especially is just pretty lame and immature in my opinion. i like how people here are overreacting to this topic, and yet they ignorantly call out the OP as if he's overreacting over "just a word." If it really is 'just a word,' then it should be just as easy to stop using it... pick another word... also, overlooking the fact that he addressed things other than just the word pretty much shows a lot about you guys...

    and no, no one is making it a big deal, i read the first post in this thread as more of a suggestion to try to make this place a little bit better...

    oh and lest we forget he spelled "disgust" wrong... it makes his entire post meaningless.....

    I'm with you PureandEasy...Seems like this forum has become nothing but an area for some members to shit on other people's opinons or comments. It's really unfortunate, and childish! But I would bet that in almost all threads, someone is telling the thread writer they are an idiot, not because they have a solid argument on an in debth topic, but just cause they felt the need to make someone else feel stupid! (I especially love when they correct others grammer as a way to be mean - come on)
