oh yes... lol
I was a real "maverick" when it came to essay questions on college Spanish exams. There were two or three different topics I could comfortably write or speak about in Spanish, and I always went back to those, regardless of the question.
"gotten a job for which they were woefully underprepared"?
What can I say, I'm a maverick.

I would go for the essay questions because I knew I could just write a bunch of stuff and BS my way through it. If you ramble on long enough the person reading forgets what they asked you or figures you at least made an effort by writing so much. It works in debates too.
