It struck me that 9/11, the event itself, became, and remains hugely politicised. a pawn used in the battle between political ideologies. Left vs Right, Liberals and Conservatives etc etc.
Being a Londoner and having been in central London during the day of our own recent terror attack, 7/7, not one politician dared to take ownership of it. it wasn't "they let this happen" or "they will let it happen again". it was very mucha unifying event.
