An assist from an unexpected quarter:
"[Y]ou can't hold the candidate responsible for everything that people around him may say or do," Huckabee says. "It's interesting to me that there are some people on the left who are having to be very uncomfortable with what ... Wright said, when they all were all over a Jerry Falwell, or anyone on the right who said things that they found very awkward and uncomfortable, years ago. Many times those were statements lifted out of the context of a larger sermon. Sermons, after all, are rarely written word for word by pastors like Rev. Wright, who are delivering them extemporaneously, and caught up in the emotion of the moment. There are things that sometimes get said, that if you put them on paper and looked at them in print, you'd say 'Well, I didn't mean to say it quite like that.'"
Later, he defended Wright's anger, too:
"As easy as it is for those of us who are white to look back and say 'That's a terrible statement!' ... I grew up in a very segregated South. And I think that you have to cut some slack -- and I'm gonna be probably the only conservative in America who's gonna say something like this, but I'm just tellin' you -- we've gotta cut some slack to people who grew up being called names..."

If it wasn't for his warped sense of reality with creationism and the christian constitution and that crap, I would be ok with him as a president. He seems like the most "real" guy out of the whole lot of candidates this time around. How can you not like the guy?

That's true, his likability is almost Patch Adams-esque.

Crap is right.
For exactly the reasons you outlined, in addition to some of his other fundie beliefs (the earth is 6,000 years old), and some ethical issues like using campaign funds to pay a media consultant, which doesn't sound wrong until you see the consultant's name - Mike Huckabee (he paid himself to be his consultant). This guy would have been a nightmare as president. So this freak show endorsing Obama doesn't really lend any credibility.

It's fairly simple.
Somebody says something you don't agree with = crackpot.
Same person says something you do agree with = genius.
for the least they could possibly do
So the Ron Paul guy on the board who believes
"How was I to know there was anything racist in these newsletters? It only had my fucking name on it." (paraphrasing)
is jumping on the Obama bashing train because he wants to attend the church he was married in and where his children were baptised?

That situation has been debunked 20 years ago... I guess that's why RP has such high support from the black community..
yeah def a racist... too bad a publisher is not an editor... I suppose that's why they actually created different worlds to describe them. Perhaps he should have been the editor of the newsletters instead of hiring one with too much literary freedom and personal agenda.
But you know.... I didn't see his name on the articles he never edited...did you?

i can't say Ron Paul is a racist. i don't know, and i have no choice but to take his word for it. i will say it was his newsletter with his name on it. he didn't edit it, but he sure as hell should have. i think the point is this:
With the wave of a hand the story was gone. Lasted 10 minutes or so in the media. This "Obama'a pastor" shit has been going on for a week now with no signs of letting up. That is an obvious double standard that i don't think, even you, in good conscience, can deny.
Also, i think its a bit of an exaggeration to describe Ron Paul's support from the black community as "high". Its apparent his support was not overwhelming from ANY community.
I suppose if he wasn't running a medical practice full time he might have spare hours to moonlight as editor instead of sleep. His racist stink lasted a good month, and was quite damaging as to the timing as well.
If Obama is legit he'll be screwed out of existence soon enough just as Ron Paul was....that's how you'll know. Perhaps his power of persuasion has kept him a live a bit longer in this regard. The ruling class doesn't hand out presidential tickets to just anyone...admission costs a rather hefty price.
They'll dig up something just in the nick of time and hang him on it. Perhaps that time is now....perhaps (more) later...
