Ok, seriously. It was after a rally on a college campus. The bar thing was pre-arranged to get volunteers etc. together. Then Ralph shows up!

This night has been awesome.

Ralph Nader is so fucking fantastic. I loved hearing him speak. It's such a different style from his running mate, Matt Gonzalez. They really do complement each other well.

One of the most moving moments of this evening goes like this:

A woman in a business suit comes in looking for a fight. She is an Obama supporter with a beef against Ralph. She finds a comrade in a gentleman a couple of seats down and they start their Ralph bashing.

The girl next to me and I start staring at each other, like "Oh, shit. What are these two going to start?" - Which was cool, 'cause that started us on our pro-Ralph points and sharing hater experiences.

Well, during the rally comes a point when they start to try to raise more money for campaigning. They start at $2,300 and work their way down. They reach $1,500 and low and behold the woman who came in bashing Mr. Ralph Nader was now contributing to his campaign. PLUS, she signed up to be a volunteer!!! :D

It was awesome to witness this. It is proof to me that people just need to hear Ralph speak.

Turns out, he may actually have his chance.

Google is working on possibly hosting a presidential debate and they invited Ralph Nader to their Mountain View campus the other day.

Woohoo!!!!

On a side note: Tonight was their most successful campaign fund raising rally this year. Way to go Seattle. I pitched in and received a signed copy of 'The Seventeen Traditions'. I'm really glad Barnes and Noble didn't have that the other day. :p

What an awesome story! :) I would have LOVED to see that happen in person!

I swear this all just starting happening. My mom says, "It's amazing what can happen when you leave the house." LOL!

I totally wanted to hug that woman. It was inspiring.

But, I'll rub my arm and blow the good vibes your way, just in case it's all luck. :p

  • Nader makes some damn good points.

    He's a good man.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

  • I voted for Ralph in 2004 and do not regret it. I remember everyone telling me at the time "a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush" and what was a load of horse shit that was. He's the candidate I share the most views with and that's why I voted for him. It's a sad thing when people vote for who they think has a chance to win rather someone who has real substance. Gonna give some time to my decision as I always do, but its good to know Ralph's in it again.

    exactly!!!

it's like ppl don't really want change, they want to follow a trend. change doesn't happen by waiting for everyone else to do it, you have to "be the change you wish to see in the world"

that must've been cool to meet them let alone hear them speak in person!!!

i hope they make their way down here
    standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
    eager to identify with
    someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way
