I want to poke fun. I love sarcasm. The time seems ripe for it.
Throughout several of the recent threads, I can't help but think of pop culture references that some up the way I see situations. However, sometimes it seems humor doesn't do well in this forum.
But, political parody has been around for ages and I think we could use some.
For instance,
During this US Presidential election season, my thoughts have often wandered off to a bit of Eddie Murphy RAW. I'm too chicken shit to post links. If you've seen it, you'll probably remember the skits to which I refer. If you haven't, I highly recommend it.
Anywho, the two scenes that flash through my head over and over as I read so many of the recent threads include the cracker scene and the OOOOOH scene.
I feel like we've been starved of good politics for so long that when we get anything resembling it, we insist it's a Ritz. Really, it's just a regular old cracker.
And as far as the OOOOOOH goes. We've gotten ourselves so excited, we're (we're = the general public) going to let just about anything slide as long as we're told not to worry.
I'm sure the creative minds on this board can come up with some better ideas than what I've shared - Maybe even ones that aren't too vulgar for youtube links.

If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.
Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.

Not sure what you're after, but whenever I think of political satire here, I always think of The Gillies Report.
A local show from days gone by with the brilliant Max Gillies who did one of the best parodies of Bob Hawke, I've ever seen.
Here's a great clip about The Dismissal that they turned into an opera.
The characterizations are spot on.

Having a professional staller is priceless in politics.

Good one, Jeanie.

I love how Chicago makes light of courtrooms and justice and feel it can be applied to anything with an audience.
I also like their play on lawyers (who can be seen as professional speakers and those that do their writing) and the media that eats it all up.
