How do you know this? I'm just curious. How do you know there aren't more people either a) not voting for Obama because he is black or b) voting for McCain because Obama is black than there are people voting for Obama simply because he is black. It goes both ways. If anything, since blacks are a minority, one could argue there are more whites who will not vote for Obama or will vote for McCain because Obama's black than there are people who will vote for Obama simply because he's black.

Huh? Here is how blacks voted when Obama ran against Clinton. Scroll down about halfway. In Illinois he got 93% of the black vote. The numbers point out the fact that blacks will vote for him overwhelmingly. Tell me why that is so?

So if you don't know, how do you know it's not one of the 4 in this poll?

Because the four in this poll suck. And also, there isn't a poll.

I assume you mean Obama, McCain, McKinney, Nadar? Maybe Baldwin or Barr?

Unsung mentioned Ron Paul, I do think he would be a better candidate.

Not too many replies, I wonder why. Why do I think if it was McCain this place would be going nuts over this?

There are stupid people voting for every candidate, but these people are merely voting for him because of the color of his skin, nothing more. I'm glad I don't identify with this much stupidity and blind ignorance.

Why are they stupid? Oh wait, I forgot who I'm typing to. They are stupid because their beliefs don't match yours. My fault.

I heard this on the radio. The rest of the bit was cut off. They had another guy who was a McCain supporter (and, by the way, black), and they turned it around and showed the same thing on the McCain side. The bit was more to show that there are many ignorant voters out there. It wasn't a democrat/republican or black/white thing.

So I agree -- yes, of course there are ignorant people on both sides of this thing. That said, my belief is that many of the extremely ignorant do not go to the polls anyway, so they weed themselves out. On both sides.

And all of this is a surprise?
  • There's nothing surprising about uninformed people voting for someone for the wrong reasons.

I imagine the majority of the electorate relies on stupid reasons to form their voting decisions. That's why politicians lie all the time and put out a bunch of television ads. It doesn't matter what the truth is; the only thing that matters is the impression the voters are left with.

There is a difference in calling someone stupid when their beliefs don't match yours against calling someone stupid because they are so fucking dumb they don't know who they are voting for.
