This state and city is represented by Senators Obama and Durbin, Rep Jesse Jackson Jr, Gov Rod Blogojevich, House leader Mike Madigan, Attorney General Lisa Madigan (Mike's daughter), Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Cook County President Todd Stroger, and Senate President Emil Jones.

This is the leadership in this state, ALL DEMOCRATS.

They are all pointing the fingers at each other, they can't blame Republicans because there are none.

In the last six months 292 people have been killed in Chicago, 221 troops killed in Iraq.

The State pension is $44 billion in debt, worst in the country.

Cook County (Chicago) sales tax is 10.25%, highest in the country.

Chicago school system is rated one of the worst in the country.

Chicago as a sanctuary city harbors thousands of illegal aliens costing the taxpayers and state more money.

Daley wants to lay off over 1000 city employees and have garbage picked up every two weeks which will lead to a worse rat infestation and spread disease, yet he has millions to spend to get the 2016 Olympics.

Corruption is through the roof with hiring scandals, government contract scandals, police brutality, etc.

The state's economy is ranked 48th in the nation.

This is what Obama comes from, these are his roots. These are his political friends. Is this the change he has in store for Washington?

Those are some pretty shitty statistics. As for the corruption and mismanagement there is no excuse for that. That falls squarely on the politicians but as for the state's economy you have to take a look at other contributing factors.

  • So federal legislators like Obama, Durbin and Rep Jesse Jackson Jr are now responsible for state budgets, city crime levels, and city schools?

I guess you wouldn't mind at all if the federal government took over your city?

    from here: http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/azcrime.htm

In 2000, Arizona’s 70.3 reported Forced Rapes per 100,000 people, ranked the state 1st highest.

I blame John McCain for this...

Here is a comparison of crime rates between Chicago and Phoenix. Guess McCain is a pretty shitty on crime since his Phoenix is pretty much on par or worse than Chicago in certain categories, with the exception of Assault, Theft and Forceable Rape which Chicago has no stats for.

Next time I go to Phoenix, there is no way that I am renting a car again. Thanks to John McCain and Jon Kyl's total lack of oversight in the matter, that city's auto theft rate is waaaaayyyyy too high.

Tell me about is also their unemployment rate has shot up from 3.7% in August 2007 to 5.6% in August 2008. McCain and Kyl can't seem to keep jobs in Arizona.

Also seems to be a bit of fiscal mismanagement going on in Arizona as well.

Ever been to Chicago? It's a pretty nice place actually, you should come see for yourself. It's funny how you don't compare much of these stats to other cities of comparable size.

I'm sick of all the Repubs (McCain) included bashing Chicago for political gain. Yeah, some of our city politicians are corrupt fucks, but what's new there? Isn't that one of the things we're famous for? ;)

I think that New Jersey probably takes the cake for most corrupt government. If there isn't a corruption scandal involving one of politicians it surely means that they are not doing their job.

what's funny is that the O.P. was in the C.H.A.N.G.E. thread criticizing the original post because it came from Fox news, stating that left doesn't believe in Fox as a crdible news source, so it couldn't be true .... (note, there are many sources that reported it, I just chose to post the Fox link so the right leaners wouldn't say it was biased media)

But he's more than happy to post and EMAIL as a credible source ... ha ha ... what's next, quoting people's posts on the Sean Hannity forum as fact?

  • Chicago school systems have an 83% graduation rate 2008 as compared to 74.8% just 6 years ago.

Many public schools systems are starting to model their inner city school policies after the Chicago successes from the last 4 years.

Obama led the reformed inner city schools to higher standards...

Where do you think Obama came from? Do you even know what he was before he was in the US Senate? So now that he has been a US Senator for a few years we should forget policies in his past and all of his past political positions?

If Chicago is so shitty, why does every other city I've been too seem like a craphole in comparison?

Chicago has its problems, but it is a world class city amongst the top 10 places in world, and Lincoln Park in Chicago is rated the best place to live in the country..

And yes, our taxes are high, but they help pay for one of the best shorelines in the country..

Chicago has its problems, just like any other major city, but it has its successes too. The unemployment rate has been going down for the past 4 years. The murder rate has decreased in the last 7 years, from 665 in 2001 to 443 in 2007. Instances of robberies, assaults and thefts have also gone down. The high school graduation rate has gone up.
Yes, sales taxes are high. But I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

I know a lot about McCain, what his stances are, and what he's proposing.

It only takes a read at JohnMcCain.com to figure it out. Which I have done ... often ... (see the healthcare thread)
