They are talking to Al Sharpton on the news right now about how Obama was at a sermon on July 22. He had a reporter there and this reporter says that when that 'reverend' went on another racist rant Obama sat there and was nodding. This reporter, I missed his name, is going to be telling all about it today from what they are saying.

No links yet, turn on the morning news.

if it was said by some random reporter on the television, then it must be true.

And then everyone who was in the church that day must be a racist bigot.

The funny thing is, even if this were true, which it apparently isn't, it still wouldn't really bother me that much. There are a lot of people Bush is in bed with that bother a whole lot more than this. Next desperate attempt to disparage Obama...

    ahhh.. good stuff.

But I can just hear the Rush Limbaughs of the world (and probably the Clinton campaign), still using this weeks from now, vaguely citing him being there for these anti-american, racist sermons. They never seem to notice or care about truth as long as they have a "source" they can repeat over and over again.

Yeah, the manufactured outrage that some people have about this amazes me... The way that this is blown out of proportion, you would think that Obama stood up and gave these sermon's himself.

The thing is, If you liked Obama over Clinton before, why should this guys odd opinion change your mind? He's a minister at a church, probably a really popular church on the south side of chicago. Passionate Devout religious people are not exactly known for their rational behavior or beliefs and just being a member of a church dosen't make you agree with everything they teach... I mean seriously... how many lapse catholics do you know...

Generally much like politicians Ministers have to know thier audience, they are afterall the ones employing the said minister.... If the guy gets up their and starts telling a congregation of people who largely haven't had the best education, made the best decisions and or understood how not to screw up thier life or not to compound bad luck so to speak wouldn't he be let go? Yeah I'd think so. It's a lot easier to beat up "the man" than it is to be introspective. Part of it is simply empathy anyway. It's a difficult world with cold realism sometimes and that's a tough area of the country to live in.

I don't see why anyone voting for Obama would change thier mind because his church minister has some odd or irrational opinions. Most of them do. All of us are irrational about something in our lives.

Bill Kristol has now amended his article to say:

"In this column, I cite a report that Sen. Obama had attended services at Trinity Church on July 22, 2007. The Obama camapaign has provided information showing that Senator Obama did not attend Trinity that day. I regret the error. "

I would really like to know what has happened to journalism in our country in the past 10 years. Its pretty sad actually.
