When I first read about the poor Iraqi boy who was burned by a group of men I was horrified that such evil can exist in this world. That people harbored such cruelity in their hearts to inflict so much damage and pain on such an innocent child. After reading this latest update on Yousef it is amazing to read about all the outpouring of support, both finacially and emotionally, that this little boy and his family are receiving. It is good to know that even though selfishness, cruelty, mallous, and evil exist in this world there are still so many people willing to help their fellow man out of the great amount of love and compassion they have.

there was a story the other day about israeli and iranian co-operation over an airplane crash in se asia i believe ... it really is proof that much of the divisions between peoples are manufactured by the powers that be in order to facilitate their own agendas ...

under circumstances of justness and commonalities - we wouldn't have the wars and suffering we have now ...

The majority of earth's citizens are not hate-filled idiots. But normalcy is not newsworthy.

I don't know where you guys are from, but you'd probably like Canadian media. Be it the television news, news radio, or newspaper, they DO attempt to balance out crime-news and accidents with "feel good" stories and positive community news.

I think it's easier for journalists of any media to put together tragedy pieces, simply because the draw is in the story itself. It's brainless and the formula is decades old. But in order to take a positive story and make it appealing to the masses, the journalist needs to put effort into "selling it" which involves thinking. On a deadline, would you rather waste time thinking, or just get the quick-and-dirty story over with so you can go home to your family? Then consider the quick-and-dirty tragedy story will sell more ads.

THAT...and tragedy stories come thru the police scanner. Feelgood stories take time to search out and discover....waaaay too much effort. lol
