Well my favorite time of the year is upon us, oíche shamhna. So have fun tonight in what ever activity you partake in.

    No, but I have always been fasinated with Celtic history and lore. I have even, over the past several yaers, started teaching my self gaelic.

    I have downloaded a course in gealic but i strugle with howe to pronounce it...facinating language though

    It is hard because we are used to phonetic pronounciation of our letter. An example would be Samhain is actually pronounced sowen. It hasn't been easy learning the language but I really want to learn it.

    Wish I had your level of committment :o . Every year seems to be the year I'm DEFINITELY going to take a course in Irish :o

    Well living in Ireland it should be easier for you to find courses. I have to resort to teaching myself from a book and audio CDs.

    Ah yeh, there are a lot of them... and, having learned it at school, I know all the pronunciations and stuff like that... so it probably wouldn't be too hard to recap... it's just getting around to it :rolleyes:

    Ah yeh, there are a lot of them... and, having learned it at school, I know all the pronunciations and stuff like that... so it probably wouldn't be too hard to recap... it's just getting around to it :rolleyes:

    You should really take a course, it's an beautiful language...

    Ok myGaelic isn't anywhere near good but you said something about studying Gaelic at college/school in Cork.

    sorry that might have looked pretentious, ya i said that irish is a lovely language, that i study it in my arts course in university college cork and im very proud of the irish language. its actually strictly speaking irish not gaelic because that could mean scottish gaelic too, well i mean irish is a gaelic language but we just call it irish

    I have no idea, but I'm at an early beginners level. I can recognize some words. My pronounciation is pretty good but that's about it.
