American Red Cross

So I went to the Dixie Chicks ( because of my girlfriend....no comments needed) concert on December 2nd and they play this commercial for their documentary Shut Up and Sing.
During this, there is a scene where they read a letter from the American Red Cross that said the Red Cross DENIED a $1 million donation from the Dixie Chicks....
Does anyone else have a problem with this?

kinda makes me never want to donate to the red cross. if they're going to deny one million from good people (i can see denying it from a terrorist group or something like that) then they aren't getting my money either. or my blood.
I hope the ARC is consistent.
Also in 2003, the American Red Cross refused a 1 million dollar donation from the Dixie Chicks. The organization did not publicize the refusal, though; it was revealed by the Chicks themselves in a May 2006 interview on the Howard Stern Show on SIRIUS Satellite Radio. [2] According to National Red Cross spokesperson Julie Thurmond Whitmer, the band would have made the donation "only if the American Red Cross would embrace the band's summer tour," writes Ms. Whitmer, referring to the group's 2003 U.S. tour after the London incident.
"The Dixie Chicks controversy made it impossible for the American Red Cross to associate itself with the band because such association would have violated two of the founding principles of the organization: impartiality and neutrality...
Should the Dixie Chicks like to make an unconditional financial donation to the American Red Cross, we will gladly accept it."
Sounds fair enough when you hear that half of the story.
crittables, refusing to donate your blood (or your money) isn't proving much. All you're doing is hurting those who need it. Its the patients who need the blood products who suffer from a blood shortage, not the organisation who manages the blood collection. Trust me, I know this from personal experience.

It's all political, the dixie chix would only donate if they had support from the red cross. That's not how the red cross rolls. So if the dixie chix really wanted to help people, I'm sure there's a million other organizations that would have taken their money. It's sad, but they had their chance, fuck em cause they got an agenda. And they suck ass.
Yeah. They certainly do suck balls. No question about that.
What do they mean when they say they want the red cross to 'embrace their tour' anyway? I don't get it. How could the red cross support a band? Isn't it usually the bands that support the charity organisations?
And who the hell plays ads during a concert?????

maybe so, but there are plenty of other organizations out there in need of my money. but like i said in my last post, i misunderstood the situation.
I can't see them wanting the Red Cross to sponsor the tour or anything like that. I'm not making judgement on either side without knowing exactly what the specifics are.
here's the trailer for their movie... it looks interesting.
