Are you supposed to show your ID when you vote. I was asked to see mine today and that's the first time I can remember that happening. Is that standard or are they supposed to do that. Just curious.

I havent voted yet so I dont know if they will ask for mine or not. But with all of these allegations of voters fraud then some sort of ID should be standard.
  • In 04 they asked me, this morning they didnt.

In Virginia they usually asked top see my voter ID.

    It depends on your state.

In georgia this is the first time you need to have your ID card with you or maybe the second you might have needed it for the primary over the summer i'm not sure.

You SHOULD have to show ID, but it many states you don't have to. I always have my drivers license and voter registration card out when I go to vote.

Same here in NJ. The first time I voted I was asked for ID and then when I moved I was asked to show ID at the new polling center.

    North Carolina doesn't require ID.

  • I beleive since the last major election, there have been a number of states that no longer allow them to ask for your ID's.

    I was not ID'd.
  • I just got back from voting and I was supposed to have my ID but nobody even bothered to ask. My polling place was at a retirement home. What a scene that was. The guy who was helping everyone was probably at least 80 years old. I could have voted 7 times and nobody would have known. It's actually kind of scary really. I think I'm voting absentee from now on.

i wasn't asked to show my ID. in fact, i brought my voter registration card (yes, i know it's not an ID) and had it out to show the folks at the poll and they said "you can put that away, you don't need it." reports from the radio indicated that others in Michigan were also not asked for their ID. but getting back to the voter registration card...what the hell is it for if they end up telling you that you don't need it?
