lol you just agreed America is the land of opportunity in the Maher thread by that silence.

sad when I agree with a Reason video, but this is actually quite left leaning to them. And makes excellent points. Something sorely needed in places like this.

we can’t have housing that costs owners $200,000 to repair and then rent it for $1500. Socialists freezing the rent is not only un-American, fails in nationwide politics, but leads to empty buildings and in the 1970s, led to the burning of the south Bronx.

buy yay for mamdani! He gets it

This is the housing solution, let’s get a bunch of liberal folks, buy a bunch of apartment buildings with rent regulated units currently in disrepair and not being rented, then repair each for $200,000 then rent the units for $1500. Freeze the rent!

Muslims are blasting Zohran Mamdani’s association with controversial Imam Siraj Wahhaj, warning that legitimizing the former terror suspect could fuel radical extremism.

“I am particularly concerned to see mosques used as political rallying platforms in the free and democratic United States,” said Dalia Ziada, a Muslim scholar and fellow at the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy.

“By embracing Wahhaj, Zohran Mamdani is sidelining moderate Muslims and normalizing an extremist ideology that once inspired terror on American soil and still fuels radicalization within segments of the Muslim community today,” she told Fox News.

    …NY Post

“ Wahhaj has made statements in support of Islamic laws over liberal democracy. He also supports capital punishments such as stoning for adultery and cutting off of hands for thievery. He has said: "Islam is better than democracy. Allah will cause his deen [Islam as a complete way of life], Islam to prevail over every kind of system, and you know what? It will happen."[11]

He has also said: "If Allah says 100 strikes, 100 strikes it is. If Allah says cut off their hand, you cut off their hand. If Allah says stone them to death, through the Prophet Muhammad, then you stone them to death, because it’s the obedience of Allah and his messenger—nothing personal."

The banks gave loans "predatory loans" to people that shouldn't have gotten approved for the loan. Or at least that high of a loan.  Then the Everyone's "Savior" Obama bailed out the banks (that knew these were shit loans) instead of the people that got taken advantage of. You know instead of the people that he's supposed to work for.

Interesting comparison of how Austin and SF handles housing. Considering that Austin is something like +40D yet folks there generally approve of how the states handled this. While in SF, it’s a red tape nightmare of govt intervention. There’s a way that’s other than the DSA way.

What this fails to mention is that all of the influx from out of state by people with San Francisco level incomes is that it is making housing and everything else more expensive for long time residents and ATX natives.  Talk to a 20-40 year old Texan of average income about affordability. It’s all relative and doesn’t really prove anything other than that San Francisco is another stratosphere of cost compared to Austin.

George W. Bush bailed out the banks, LOL. I am really looking forward to the day when I see a post from you where you actually know what you're talking about.

What’s important to remember is they were in lock step with most of us but as they have grown older and wiser and starting asking more questions they found themselves leaving the left and “everyone’s savior”.
