Any one else here in Houston awaiting Ike?

Just wondering if there were any other pj fans in Houston waiting for this monstrosity to hit. I am so sick of the media coverage, and all of the sensationalism that surrounds storms like these. It's a dangerous situation to be sure, but the level of panic that they seem to want to bring out only makes things worse. They're one of the biggest parts of the problem at this point. Anyway, just wanted to say hello to any of my fellow Houstonians that are out there preparing for the worst of it tonight. Good luck, and we'll see you on the other side.

  • My dad is in H-tow waiting it out. My mom went to San Antonio.

I think Houston will be okay, but Galveston...that's another story. The storm surges look nuts.

  • Seriously, I know we have had hurricanes since the beginning of time, but doesn't it seem like a ruthless onslaught every year now?

it really does appear to be getting worse.
I can't believe that the mayor of Galveston is saying that 40% of the city stayed put. Even after they are warning of a 20ft storm surge. some people will never learn.

  • i left yesterday. i was already leaving for the weekend, Ike just hurried me along.

doesnt look like it will be quite the pain in the ass for me that Katrina was, but if all my shit gets destroyed again i wont be suprised :)

i think God is trying to tell me something.

    Looks like it's very serious.

CNN just reported that one 19 year old died, he was standing by the water and a large wave pulled him out to sea.

oook, and did anyone see that video of this guy standing by the water with this tiny dog and this wave comes and hits them full on. That one was kinda funny.

anyway, Hurricanes can be bad, I was in 3 of them in Florida. Be safe, stay away from windows, don't open the door and make sure you have a tub full of water just incase the water shuts down.
