I guess we know how some republicans really feel about the pick.

Wow, that's awesome. Keep in mind that those are/were Republican insiders/consultants/operatives. These are not liberals looking for any excuse to assail the choice. I think it is pretty telling, and could be pretty damaging.

Murphy has been vocal about his distaste for this choice from the beginning. Noonan has seemed tepid, but obviously wasn't publicly calling it "bullshit"...lol. Neither statement was totally shocking, but still sort of embarrassing and revealing.

This is just my opinion, but I have a feeling that many republicans are not pleased by Palin's selection. Yes the hardcore religious portion of the Republican base may be completely thrilled about this but they are not the majority of the party. After 8 years of the extreme right running this party I feel that they are sick and tired of their party being hijacked by them.

I get the vibe that the hardcore conservatives are genuinely excited, but that the rest are just pretending to be really stoked about it, while crossing their fingers and just praying that it wasn't a huge fuck-up.

Yes but they have vast amounts of cash which McCain needs to survive and have a chance against Obama.

My conservative father-in-law was visiting for Labor Day (yes, there's a treat) and he is digusted at the hijacking of the Republican party by the religious right. Hates McCain and thought his choice of Sarah Palin was a huge mistake. He said he may not vote in this election. (Good.)
  • Don't worry, they were just kidding. Palin is the new darling of the GOP. She'll be delivering the speech she didn't write to the doe-eyed zealots tonight. It will be guaranteed comedy.

  • Some time, I like Mike Murphy, other times, he's a real jack ass. Today I like him.

I LOVE to hear stories like that.

On the other hand I have a mother in law that is totally opposite (part of that religous right). She is now happy since Palin is on the ticket. She hated McCain and now is going to vote for him because of the Palin.

Yeah, I gather cause they didn't really give me a good reason why they pulled me over when I asked. They something about the factory tint on my window was too dark and that I had too many things hanging from my rearview mirror. Huh
