...or find alternate energy.....otherwise more war, or everyone cuts back seriously huge on oil consumption.
Alternate energy sounds good to me and it is in process, some time in the coming though ... the oil folks will want to weigh in inevitably ... profit, profit, profit, most without future vision.
To me it is a sick notion that war is big business. Wonder what the mission statement is?!

Boom's Organ wrote:What a perfect choice for Obama to pick as a running mate. We are FINALLY
going to have the intelligence, honesty, and no BS ticket running this country.
So, get out there, register to vote, and VOTE, kiddies. Let's get out of this war and get the country back on its feet, ASAP.
Obama/Biden 2008-this is a message from Boom's Organ, and I approve.
To expect this out of a politician is nuts.Underneath this smile lies everything
all my hopes, anger, pride and shame...0 -
Biden, the self-proclaimed Zionist. The supporter of war and heavy American Military presence all over the world.
Ah yes, Obama/Biden............paving the way to true change:rolleyes:
Some of you must be high as a kite if you think Biden is a good thing and will bring about change.
Obama just selected a guy who will tow all of the corporate interests and influences, who continue supporting Israel's violent oppression, expansion and invasion, who will continue to support and probably be a main force and catalyst in ripping more individual/human rights from the palms of Americans.
Newsflash.........
This is a distinct and glaring admission from Obama that he's nothing more than yet another corporate/elitist-whore.
This is bad news. Very bad news.0 -
Solat13 wrote:I wonder how Ed feels about this. Considering Ed ripped Joe Biden at the 4/28/03 Spectrum show in Philly for piggybacking onto an Amber Alert bill - a bill that said if you own a club or a venue or are a promoter of a show that if someone is caught using illegal drugs at your event that the owner or promoter is responsible for it and thought it was something that shouldn't have been tried to be snuck onto the original bill.
Oh wait, that's right... everyone is willing to sell themselves out to get what they want.0 -
So many opinions.
It is hard to get to the heart and truth of facts in anything political anymore.
There's gonna be interesting times despite who gets elected. I'm sticking with Obama. Another 4 years of McCain who will be carrying the Bush "let''s keep f*ckin' the folks cuz they take it so well and we don't give a sh*t about anyone but ourselves" would rather suck.
I have a good life despite who is elected. I just can't bear tolerating another 4 years of lies and the covering up for George & Dick that will ensue.
I guess it may be time to seriously consider moving to another country ... if I had the option most certainly another planet! Seems there will always be controversy as this is part of the experience of living. Just doesn't feel good in the US anymore, especially with the continuous out and out deception that George W and crew so generously hand out.

Other countries don't want us. If they did, I'd be joining you.
The people we talked to in Europe thought we were Aussies or Canadians. They were shocked we were Americans. "But you're so nice" we kept hearing.
They love Al Gore. He's got their respect. The only thing they respected about us, they said, was our fashion and our music.
Says alot right there.SpacedNeedlegrl0 -

I hear ya. I experience this a lot while traveling.
We Americans as a "whole" have a "bad" image to a lot of people. It is rather sad and embarrassing. And I'm sorry to say when I look around I can see why. A big part of this these days is George Bush, though not the only reason. Again if people don't believe this, get the heck out and travel. Experience it first hand. It's not tortuous, it's rather fun and humbling. It's opened my eyes tremendously.
There is also this perspective ...this country is golden to many. A person can come here with little education, work hard, raise a family and have many more freedoms than where they originally came from.
If one comes from a place where the economics or personal freedom isn't good, than the US is a bit of heaven.
The US is one big ol' melting pot. That's my perspective.
I met a cab driver coming home from the show friday night who was from Tunisia. He was in his mid to late 20's. A kind, soft spoken gent. He had been a soccer player on his way to the big leagues when he suffered an injury and his career was impeded. He found he couldn't play further and decided to coach soccer cuz he didn't want to give up his passion.
In Tunisia he would have had to have eight more years of experience and more schooling to actually get paid. Here he is getting a paid internship and going to school. So he is getting paid to do what he loves and driving a cab to make ends meet for the time being. So he loves it here. And he is able to be here. This country takes in many.
My friend and his wife, in their early 20's originally from Chicago are living in Cambodia. He is a graphic designer and she teaches English. They really enjoy it and are in no hurry to return to the States. I feel these days I would rather enjoy another experience besides the "insularity" of the US.
So there are ways to live in other places, some will accept us. It winds up being an "individual" thing as to who will or won't.
Still sticking with Obama, despite all the opinions. Even if his visionary idealism seems a bit much for folks, at least he seems to be on the right track. Lot's of folks seemed to have shunned Abe Lincoln. He turned out to be a good president. Time will tell."i'm a dedicated insomniac" ~ ev nyc beacon 6/220 -
Harvesting the energy from the sun is the only way everyone is going to get along. But self sufficiency and self empowerment is not on the agenda. If big oil could find a way to get kickbacks from the sun...we would all have affordable solar energy faster than you can say gas prices suck.
It made us...it will heal us if we return to it is my analogy.
Corporate gets what corporate wants....and the goal is more of everything....business is business.
This is why Israel can get away with what they do. Money. People "look the other way" all the time over it.Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

I agree with your "Sun" view ...
Yes, self sufficiency and self empowerment is not on the agenda. It can be on the agenda one day, only if we do it and push for it. It is possible."i'm a dedicated insomniac" ~ ev nyc beacon 6/220 -
Biden really is an idiot. he's thinks he's a foreign policy expert because he came up with the brilliant plan of dividing Iraq into three mini-states.0
