Not sure what the problem is... They are meeting about changing things for the better. Just because you don't agree with someone on some issues, doesn't mean that you shouldn't talk to them about common interests and how to change things.

That is the perspective that this administration has taken with Iran and Syria... They don't agree with them on some issues, so they would rather sit in the corner and stare at the wall, then try to change anything.

Of course then again, I thought the whole Imus thing was overblown.

Well, for one, this is a song about hoes.

    Now, if the lyrics went:
Cant turn a Rutger's Women's Baskeball player into a housewife
Rutger's Women's Baskeball Players dont act right
Theres Rutger's Women's Baskeball Players on a mission, an Rugter's Women's Basketball players on a crackpipe

    you'd have a point.

But, until that song comes out, you're just being stupid.

I guess Barack should be bombing the shit out of Ludacris. It's the American way.
  • So should have I printed the lyrics when he talks about about going out and killin' nigga's?

you people are so silly believing what you choose

There are things men can say to men and women can say to women

but Men should never say to women and things women should never say to men

    You can understand that.. right?

Everyone seems to miss the main point about freedom of speech. To make fun of Ludicris or any politico is protected speech because these folks are paid public figures. This is protected speech as defined by many previous Supreme Court decisions.

One the other hand, 18 and 19 year old, unpaid athletes are not public figures and deserve the protection against bad speech.

Al and jesse have and deserve no protection, so pile up on them.

they are public figures. They shouldn't have those things said about them, but to think that people representing a public university on a national stage are not public figures is a little short sighted. People trash football players, basketball players anyone in college that plays a sport; it's part of playing on the next level...the level of criticism can go up. May not be fair..

If Imus was a black man and said those comments, he would still have a job (and would have received a few laughs from those who are outraged now) and you would have never heard about these comments. It is about the color of skin, not a gender issue. You can understand that right? Hypocrisy at its extreme? You can understand that?

It isn't hypocrisy. It's 1) advertising dollars 2) taking the high road. Again, if Imus were screaming bloody murder about the unfairness of it all then you might have a point, but he's chosen to accept what he's done as not good and move on. Why can't you accept that?

It's almost as if all you are saying is, gee, if he can sound racist, why can't I?
Kind of childish if you ask me.

I think you have my point backwards. I'm saying if what Imus says is racist, then whoever says it, it should be racist. The point of this whole thread is that there is a double standard. I don't think either side should be making these comments, but at least what I want is an even playing field. I thought that was what Sharpton wanted too? I think Sharpton will always have the victim's mindset (while driving around in his Mercedes or whatever), and people like that should never be listened to.

I don't give a fuck how Sharpton or Jackson politically try to capitalize on Imus' remarks. The reality is that advertisers threatened to pull, so the networks pulled Imus. It's that simple. It was an idiotic thing to say and he knows it. Hell, for all we know Imus offered his resignation, but in a bit of political/advertising appeasement of their own, they chose to "fire" him instead.
I have no idea how Oprah got into this other than the fact that some crybaby likes to think Imus lost his job because he did something that Oprah gets away with, and that's just ridiculous. His words were slanderous, really. Hers are steeped in a stereotype, but it's one of the oldest and innocuous stereotypes a lot of people have laughed at for a long time.

The bottom line in all of this... Imus/Rap Lyrics non-issue...
    ...
White people should not try to talk like Black people. It always makes them look like idiots.
    ...
Case in point: Well, Imus for obvious reasons. Old, decrepid white dudes with bad hair and Cowboy hats should never be rapping or talking like he's black. Another example... Snoop Dogg saying, "Fo' Snizzle, my nizzle"... is cool because he's Snoop Dogg. Justin Timberlake saying, "Fo' my Homies..."... SHUT UP JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE!!! Shut your sorry white suburban ass up 'cuz you ain't got no homies... bitch.
    ...
And the ultimate reason why white people shouldn't try to talk like they're black... Kevin Federline.
    ...
    I rest my case.

this is so perfectly said it should be a public service announcement required for every network to run as part of the emergency broadcast system every 30 days along with the color pattern this message should scroll across the screen...along with that annoying buzzing beep sound of course.
    Oh dear dad
    Can you see me now
    I am myself
    Like you somehow
    I'll ride the wave
    Where it takes me
    I'll hold the pain
    Release me

I forgot the most glaring example of WHY WHITE PEOPLE SHOULD NOT RAP... or even make the slightest reference to RAP...
    Karl (M.C.) Rove

That made Vanilla Ice look like fricken' Dr. Dre. I'm still suffering the physical and emotional scars from being exposed to that.
