btw - i did not watch the emmys, so i really can't say much. i've heard/read some about it......but eh, tis nothing new really now, is it? and while on the one hand i am 100% behimd freedom of speech, using your microphone.....evn for causes i fully agree/believe in...i've never thought an awards telecast the proper forum for sharing personally held beliefs.....find a better forum to get your message out. but hey, that's just me.
Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow

thanks cut. thats shady.
thing is fox can justify their censorship of her anti war talk by saying they were censoring goddamn.....
yea they could have just beeped the word. but I have mixed feelings about this. while I hate censorship, I dont think the emmys is the right forum to bitch about the war. I dont know.
thats cool, but these artists are granted this time for thier time as short as it may be, they should say what makes them tick..
really? so now we should use award shows as a forum to allow everyone to protest? come on. yes, they should stand there and say thank you to for getting an award. its a fucking award show.
maybe she should have been more prepared instead of the babbling junk she came up with and didnt let goddamn slip. I dont think it would have been censored had to she something in a more calm sensible way.

I agree. had she spoken more calmly and didnt accidentally swear, this wouldnt have happened.
Well I think it was probably a bit unreasonable to expect her to speak more calmly. It's not like she isn't known for blathering on when she gets an award. It's part of her personality. Just how she is. Actors and celebrities do have a tendency to ramble when they're not scripted and speaking ad lib at highly emotional times. And I'm still struggling with what she said being considered swearing. I truly believe they've drawn more attention to it by editing it than it ever would have got if they'd just let it go to air as it was. Surely goddam can't be that offensive? And I understand that as a fairly religious country goddam could be construed as offensive however as an athiest I find the constant references to god on television pretty irritating but I don't feel the need to have it edited out. I guess it all depends on how pc and sensitive you are. I just think there are way more important things to worry about in this world and certainly things more worthy of attention than this.

Damn janet jackson.
They did censor it because she said "goddamn"- which in some respects is almost sadder. They also dumped out on Ray Romano saying "screwing" in the same show.. also if you watch the news about the Isiah Thomas story, they say "The B-Word" instead of just saying "bitch."
If it was JUST field, i would have considered it political, but since they did the same to romano, i think its just part of the growing overreaction to any word that may be considered offensive.
and the reason i quoted your post... the bleeping. Its very difficult, if not impossible, to "bleep" on a live broadcast. Instead, because they operate on a delay, they "dump out" like 5 seconds of audio that includes the offensive part- almost like someone hit a mute button in the studio.
