    Bush, temporarily out of pocket
Cheney, acting President, out of Washington
    Congress, on vacation
    Chertoff's gut feeling

Are they trying to warn or prepare us for something?

Bush is going for a colonoscopy tomorrow. I wonder if they'll find his head up there? ;)

I don't get it, its only a few hours. Does he turn things over when he goes to sleep at night?
  • This is close to being one of the stupidest fucking things I've ever heard.

While under anesthesia? What are we expecting an onslaught of terrorist attacks as soon as they shove the plunger up his ___?

dear god this is some far stretched out retard propaganda

That or its some ploy to play "switch it up" to confuse circumstances or create a loophole for them to weasel out of.

I don't see what the big deal is.... it's pretty much standard practice. If a president is incapacitated then the power is transferred to the VP.

I had a colonoscopy once and I was in no shape to make any decisions.

    I agree

cheney would never do anything evil if it looked like it was his call.

I could see if he's out for a week or a few days or an operation, but a few hours on a routine check up? Standard paractice?

Like someone said earlier...what happens when he sleeps. Do they take turns sleeping...this is some crap they are pulling.

    it's BS

edit: Oh wait I get it... The terrorists know he will be under anesthesia now so they have to transfer power or the United States will fall apart completely the moment he goes under :p

The sleeping comparison doesn't make sense, he could easily be awaken if something happend.

Before this administration made the vice presidency what it is, that office had no power to make executive decision. So even if the president is incapacitated for only a few hours, if something happened, then their would be technically (and constitutionally) no one who could make any executive decisions for the country.

Again, this is in general, since we all know that Bush really doesn't make any decisions in the first place.

While the chances of something happening in the few hours on a sunday that he is out, it's more of a covering all of the bases thing.

How long does it take to come out of anesthesia once the flow is turned off? I guess it's comes down to minutes.

But then again he sat for 20 mins with his thumb up his ___ reading a childrens book while planes were crashing into the high rise buildings in NY and he might as well have been unconscious.

for the polyps he's had in the past, they'd wait a full 10 years in between check ups. This is normal operating procedure, pardon the pun.

When Bush had it done 5 years ago, he relinquished his duties to Cheney right before he went under at 7 am, the colonoscopy was finished within 20 minutes, and he was awake shortly after 7:30 a.m. His doctor let him recover from the affects of the anesthesia for two hours after that, and then Bush relieved Cheney of his post as "commander in chief".
