Thread point is to talk about CSA's if you wish or share photos of your loot you recently pick up to give people an idea of what they can get generally from a CSA or specifically what a local group offers.

I find that I get things that I wouldn't think of buying and it forces me to try new food and recipes. I've been a cook for most of my working life so following a recipe is not too hard for me, but I'm always learning.

If you don't think you can cook for yourself, start. The internet has tons of great recipes, just follow them and you can start eating healthier.

Not sure if my photo link will work but we'll see. (LET ME KNOW)

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) originated in Europe and Japan as a reaction to the gradual loss of quality in produce. This natural phenomenon occurred as farms grew further and further away from the center of their own community.

In America food travels an average of 1500 miles before it reaches the dinner plate. Pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides are used to cover the stress of travel on fresh produce. Communities have come together all across America to support local farms in their community instead of giant grocery store conglomerates that choose to support large agro farms. Each CSA operates in its own unique way, but the basic idea remains the same: consumers and farmers collaborating to ensure a safe and healthy food source in their community.

This is the Medium box I picked up today from Full Circle Farm
( http://www.fullcirclefarm.com/index.html ) from their Greenlake, Seattle, Washington location for $37:

Red Potatoes FCF Shallots FCF
Delicata Squash FCF Broccoli FCF
Broccoli FCF Purple Carrots FCF
Red Radishes FCF Lemons
Delicata Squash FCF Purple Carrots FCF
Red Leaf Lettuce FCF Braeburn Apples *
Green Kale FCF
FCF = Grown at Full Circle Farm * = Grown in Washington State

We get to see first what we are getting for the week and then we can sub out 3 items. I did and got "double" broccoli, purple carrots, and squash.

There are also addition items I can add for more $$$ from a secret member list.

Look at that beautiful Squash! 100% ORGANIC!

I get a Medium box every two weeks and it's a Nice amount for 2.

Great picture, Hoon. I did this for a while through a farm out in Carnation. I need to get back into one of those co-ops. Thanks for the reminder! That picture makes my mouth water.
