So I was walking up to the commuter rail station to wait for my train to take me to work this morning, when I saw a guy handing out pamphlets. Figuring he was probably a Jehovah's witness or some other kind of religious freak I tried to sneak past him, but he saw me and reached out to shake my hand and tell me he was running for Congress. I said "U.S. Congress? You're running against Stephen Lynch?" He said yes, because he "had voted with all the Republicans to go to war". I didnt have much time to talk to him but I said I would look over his positions and then I thanked him for running. I looked the dude in the eye. He's a sincere man. He was passionate about what he was talking about. And I was just feeling 100% cynical about politics.

But I checked out his website, and it rocks:

I doubt that Stephen Lynch will lose, but dammit that bastard deserves to.

    By all measures, conditions have gotten worse in the past six years. Peace to war, solvency to debt, better jobs to worse jobs, inflated costs of necessities (energy, health care, education, etc.), a deteriorating infrastructure with no money to rebuild it…the list goes on.

    The politicians we elected have failed.

    WE CAN:

    Extricate ourselves from this senseless, wasteful, and self-destructive war;
    Achieve energy independence; Achieve a lifestyle which is both comfortable and sustainable;
    Avoid the catastrophic consequences of Global Warming; Protect the integrity of our environment;
    Educate our children to meet future challenges and compete successfully in the global economy;
    Rebuild our infrastructure; Reduce our debt;
    and, Achieve a society that values & practices tolerance, fairness, and civility.
    In short, WE CAN live in, and leave our children, a more secure, more prosperous, more sustainable society than we have today. But, to do so ...

    Does he get into detail about how this can be done? I've checked the site but can't find much info.

    I mean all of that sounds good, but it could also just be some lip service

    I know I know dude, I sound negative with all of that.

    Well dude, I can't say that I really disagree with yeah.

    But I'm curious, when can I see you run? Perhaps one day you could at the very least get some of your thoughts out to the public, even at a small level is a step forward.
