Well I made it back! Europe is beautiful and I love it there, but I'm exhausted and glad to be home ... I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. We're convinced that the hoteliers in Europe choose their mattresses based on what will drum up the most business for their in-house masseuses. They're hard as rocks (and we were staying in the Hilton!) and I woke up stiff and achy every day.

The last day of treatment there was a whole lot of no fun ... I had a pretty high fever and felt like shit all night long, so I wasn't able to do much my last day there except get wheeled down to our favorite restaurant and eat dinner.

I get my next CA-125 this coming Tuesday, which is probably too early to tell if the dendritic cells are working yet, since I just got the vaccine last Tuesday. I'm supposed to go back in a month, for a much shorter trip this time since I can't afford to go for 10 days every month. After 2 treatments, I'll get another CA-125 and hopefully I can talk my doc here into ordering another CT scan, and by then we'll know if it's making any difference or not. If it is, we'll find a way to keep paying to keep it up. If not .... well, that's pretty much it, because my chemo here isn't working at all. I don't remember if I posted it or not, but I got my last scan results right before I left and it shows that everything is growing. So these folks in Germany are my last hope, keep your fingers crossed :)

Welcome home! I know what you mean about your own bed, there's nothing like it. We actually slept quite well in Germany but what we found interesting is that every bed was exactly the same! Even down to how they put the duvet on sideways. :) Rest up and give us some good results. Love ya. :)

Don't worry Helen (and everyone else) ... if this works, and once I get to the point where taking a shower doesn't wear me out, I have BIG plans :D

So... not just fingers crossed. A new lil' spell may be in order **thinks which strong spell is the best**. Will sort that out for you. Maybe also something a bit more conventional like good and healing vibes :D...

    Aahh... hotel mattresses... ;)

Big plans? London maybe? Though you will be fed up with Europe by then!

    Take care of yourself.

Seriously, why have mattresses at all? Who would notice? They're like rocks! And this is in a room that costs 600 EU per night! I shudder to think what the cheap places are like! I guess I'm gonna find out when I go back next month. We can't afford to be staying at Hiltons, a friend donated all of her Hilton points to us for this trip.

It's a trick to sell massages, I'm telling ya. I had to get one every 2 or 3 days just to be able to move.

I think we should discuss this politely over a few beers (i.e. whoever can drink the most without throwing up or going to sleep gets her :) )
