What do conservatives and liverals have in common?

my2hands thread made me think...

he and I are about as polarized as yankee and red sox fans...but there are things that politically aware liberals and conservatives have in common.

i think a lot of my fellow cons view the other side as a bunch of America hating 9/11 conspirists while a bunch of my liberal collegues see conservatives as a bunch of hate mongering religious zealots.

but there is something in my2hands' post that unites us...we ALL distrust government and corporate interests...

I'm not sure it will ever be communicated through traditional media, but those of us involved in politics have so much more in common than we do with those who are disinterested.
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things

    It's funny, because I know extreme liberals who are so far left.....that they actually end up circling back around and land closer to the extreme right, than the anywhere to the left.

    The thing is... both sides are portrayed as the caricatures the other side wants them to appear. What is being represented by these so-called pundits are the extreme ends of the spectrum. It's like portraying all Muslims as al Qaeda terrorists and all Christians as Ku Klux Klansmen. The extreme ends do not represent the majority on either side.

    But, when speaking about the politicians... Republicans and Democrats are the opposite sides of the same cum-soaked joy rag. You have to be a complete idiot to think either side gives a shit about you and your sorry ass family. They are most interested in one thing, once they gain the office... re-election.
