the big problem most people do not understand is that if McCain gets his way and leases our waters and our wildlife refuses to EXXON, they are not going to sell that oil to the american people, they are going to sell it on the world market, for as much profit as they can possibly make, this does nothing to make us energy independent, McCain makes it sound like if we drill for oil it will stay in the states... If Obama would come out and say they can drill wherever they want BUT not EXXON, the United States would drill the oil and sell the oil to the American people only.....Using ALL profits to invest in wind, solar, and other energy independent technology. this would force McCain into the position of defending selling our oil to China and India.... We all know this would never be agreed upon, the republicans would attempt to defend "free trade" and ridicule Obama for attempting to use American oil in America.

So where does McCain say he's going to lease our waters and wildlife refuges to EXXON? I'd like some back-up for that statement.
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.
have you heard anything that has come out of Cotten Hill's mouth? All he talks about is "DRILL HERE DRILL NOW DRILL EVERYTHING" who do you think is going to do that drilling? Oil companies lease land, drill the oil, and sell it on the world market....and YES, that oil will be the property of the oil companies, not the american people, and it WILL be sold on the world market, NOT to the American people. these facts are undisputed.... unreported, but undisputed none the less.
Once again, it isn't a position change. Obama has stated emphatically that it would only be CONSIDERED as part of an extensive, comprehensive, energy reform packages that stresses first and foremost alternative energy sources and conservation. A crapton of Americans favor off shore drilling. An agreement to CONSIDER something many Ameicans favor while sticking to his own guns is not a policy change. It isn't even a promise to do it. It is an agreement to possibly CONSIDER it. Using this to portay Obama as a "flip flopping", pandering, political opprotunist is weak. It isn't even close to an example of that.
pretty hard to dispute something that hasn't been reported yet.
the unreported part is that it will be sold on the world market, not to the people of the United States..... although this is not generally reported as part of the drilling issue, it is neverthless a fact. do you dispute this? do you dispute that if Obama were to propose that all american oil stays in America that McCain would satnd up for the rights of the oil companies to sell it for the highest profit as opposed to selling it to the American public at say.....25 dollars a barrel..... you know, the price it was before Bush took office? hell they could still sell it at 120 a barrel and put all profits toward renewable energy. I dont think the American public would be so behind McCains Drilling idea if they knew it was for BIG OIL not the American people... for EXXONS economy, not the American economy.
what makes no sense is to give the oil companies more land when they already have 68 million acres they are not using, so they can drill more oil to sell to China and India...... what makes LESS sense is that Obama is not informing the American people of these facts. The VAST majority of people that hear Cotton Hill talk about drilling think that american oil will belong to america, not EXXON, not china, Not India.
what do you consider a fact? this is yoru opinion which can be right but is pure hear-say. unless you have some facts behind this the tread has no point to it. also, how can you say that it would not help the american ecomomy?

why does off-shore drilling not make sense? is it the whole it will take 10 years to get the oil thing?

All i said is you can't refute something that hasn't been reported. Nor can you state speculation, even one rooted in common sense, as fact.
Heck, i think you're probably correct about McCain's intentions and probable course of action.
