I sat in front of my computer at 6:30 in the morning and watched the justice dept. oversite hearings on c-span 3. of course they did not air these hearings on ANY of the cable tv stations... but WOW! Gonzo looked the worst he ha ever looked and that is saying A LOT! chuck schumer really had him nailed down and caught gonzo in a lie about the nature of statements he made in a press conference as well as the nature of his visit to the hospital bed of Ashcroft. he made him look like an absolute FOOL! I cannot understand why none of this is carried on television. it is VERY compelling to watch, very confrontational, and VERY important. television is all about the compelling moments and yet i had to watch this on c-span 3 on my computer. what is worse is that i have not seen it reported about ANYWHERE...... cnn, msnbc, fox, not a single one of these networks have said anything about it.. it is not in the little list of "yahoo" news stories when pull up their webpage, it is nowhere.... im sure that it will be replayed on one of the cspan networks later... do yourself a BIG favor and watch it... it was truely amazing... shows like Hardball gave it no mention at all and instead chose to doo a 10 minute interview with the obama gir and 2 other bimbos who did similar videos for rudy and clinton. these are the kind of soundbites that you would think would LEAD every newscast... i am still waiting to see if anyone will cover the story.. I AM POSITIVE countdown with kieth olberman will cover it, but for now i think maybe i imagined it...... please tell me someone else saw this!!!!!!!

  • Gonzales has got to be one of the most bogus wastes of taxpayer money.

The guy is a habitual liar like no other. When he says he "does not recall" like 10 times in a row to every question..that's not exactly the truth if you know what I mean.

I'm about over the whole political firing crap, but just listening to Gonzales, I don't see how anyone could have any faith in him to do anything. He obviously has not idea what goes on in his department, and I can't see this guy managing a fast food restaurant.

I would imagine that most US Attorneys are pretty dominant type A personalities.... I mean you would have to be to prosecute tough cases and to make it that far in your career... How can a guy that comes off so passively and squirrelly run a part of our government that oversees all of these types of dominant personalities?

countdown did cover the story... but for whatever reason did not show the schumer segment.... im sure it will surface on youtube or be replayed later... it was astonishing. yet, nobody knows about it. i am positive however we are ALL aware that linsey lohan got arrested again... that is on EVERY station... if this hearing was aired on prime time television, it would have held the nations interest, because it was an amazing thing to watch, and the entire country would have laughed out loud at gonzo like everyone in the audience at the hearing did. he literally made up lies as he went along, and got caught in those lies and kept digging himself a deeper and deeper hole. he was also challenged on torture which was very compelling to watch... but the schumer exchange nEEDS to be seen by everyone. if after seeing that, you still support this man and the administration he represents... you have REAL ISSUES.
  • Its on cspan 2 right now.

Huffington Post. We know, now, that Gonzalez admitted today that there are OTHER surveillance programs that have never been mentioned. Those were, after all, the ones he went to get Ashcroft's approval on, while Ashcroft was lying in Recovery after gallbladder surgery (even though Comey had already been given Ashcroft's power and title). Gonzo admitted it himself, today.

OTHER surveillance programs, not just the one that Bush told us about.

im glad they re-played this on c-span 2... and at night. for anyone who has seen it, isnt that WAY more interesting than everything else on cable news networks? I think controversial oversite hearings, and daily white house press briefings should be on prime time t.v. they hardly ever show tony snow's briefings on cable news... you have to go back to c-span 3 to see it. again, these usually make for compelling television. do they really think celeberety gossip is more entertaining and important than this? its nice that think progress has that clip available, i hope the torture segment, and the first schumer segment get posted somewhere as well. ill tell you what, the democrats should run highlights of gonzos testemoy non stop every goddamn day on every station on television. if every american saw this testimony in different impossibly ridiculous segment every day for the next year..... they would own every seat in the white house, senate, and house.

i liked his testimony a few months ago when he was asked how he could swear bush or cheney or anyone else in the white house had anything to do w/ it if he wasn't involved? and he just stuttered and stumbled and said something 'b/c i know they wouldn't do something like that'

i really hope the anyone running against a republican in 2008 has their tivo at work while c-span stations are replaying this debacle. this bozo, dick cheney, and george w. need to be CONSTANTLY portrayed as the face of the republican party. even americans are bright enough to get the message eventually. i cnat wait until the white house press conference tomorrow where tony snow tells us how pleased the president was with gonzo's testimony. remember last time, when he shamed the justice department and his country from these hearings and bush went on to praise his testimony the next day before admitting he never saw it......i hope they play his exchange with schumer more times than the rodeny king tape. it should be seen EVERYWHERE.

That was classic. I'd like to see Gonzales get smashed in the face with a hammer next time he lies....end every time thereafter.

Some of his own medicine that he's advocating in gitmo etc..

    Maybe then he'll recall

no doubt about it.... he has such a hard on for getting answers through torture, he should be used as an example of how effective those methods are or are not. until then i just want to see this testemony on non stop television commercials about the republican party. the fact that it has not happened yet speaks volumes to the ineptitude of the democratic party. how many times can they get an election gift wrapped for them and not know what to do with it?
