See that's the difference between me and republicans. Although I may feel that the world may be better off without retards, I would never ever consider forcing my belief on others.
the US government is still using it in its correct context... but i know what you mean... its like the word 'gay' which was a normal word but now used in a derogatory fashion.
This is true. My sister is a teacher and has worked at an alternative school for kids with a huge range of special needs, and the word "retarded" is technically the appropriate/acceptable word in some cases. Yes, it has a very negative connotation because some assholes run around calling people "retards", but it is an acceptable word when used in it's proper context.
I can't believe this discussion is even happening on this board, I'm appalled at THE MAJORITY of the responses.
First of all, to use the term "retard" or "the retarded" is just as offensive to some as the term "nigger" is to others.
And to suggest that a person that happens to be developmentally delayed should not be given a chance at life is fucking disgusting.
The ironic part is that I'm sure all this shit is coming from a bunch of fucking so called liberals that would piss all over themselves if someone posted:
"Should all nigger and wet back fetuses be aborted?"
I find it humorous that some jackass with 16 posts makes this thread and disappears.
Poke the bees' nests and watch usually rational people argue irrationally.

They're still fucking human. You all make me sick.
and what's so fantabulous about being a human being? are we supreme beings? seriously...just b/c something has the possibility of becoming a human, so what? we are not the end-all, be-all...no matter our self-inflated sense of self. we are animals on this planet like any other, no matter our inteligence or place in the pecking order.
beyond that, abortion is a personal choice, one that ultimately lies with the mother, but hopefully too the father is involved in the decision as well. personally, i do not see it as a 'moral' issue at all, i see it as a belief. i do not believe an embryo is a human being. i believe it has the possibility of becoming a human being. under 12 weeks of age it does not have a fully formed central nervous system, which means it cannot think or feel. i am against cruelty...but with no function for pain, i see no cruelty, nor any lack of morality, in ending the possibility of life outside the womb. i have expressed this sentiment oftentimes on this board. i know many disagree with me and that's a-ok imo as long as no one tries to force their personally held beliefs on the decision making process of another. therefore of course i do NOT condone aborting all retarded fetuses, or all any fetuses...b/c that choice belongs on the individual level.

this made me think... you know if an animal gives birth to a 'retarded' animal... that animal is normally is excluded or left to die.. like a runt or whatever... if we are just 'animals' then wouldnt we just leave mentally challenged babies to fend for themselves? you know if we are just 'animals'?
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

it's a choice.
the other animals may choose that, we may choose that....theoretically. one may choose to abort based solely on this information, one could try to give the child up for adoption after birth, one could choose to raise the child.....all valid choices to make.
btw - i never said 'just animals'....simply stated we are animals. human animals. we are what we are.

Are you fucking serious?

What is your motivation for asking this question? To be provocative and pick a fight?
