the first one started because of a revolutionary gang killing an archduke, germany empire building, great britains dominance in the empire race, etc

    this is slightly different.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

It seems a cold war is already going on, us and russian warships are already engaged in the black sea and it is no good sign... but I dont think this started because of the kaukasus crisis... this seems a pretext to me. I remember the US-Russia crisis as soon as the US announced their plans of the Poland space missile shield, for exemple.... I think that in the last years russia has gained a new power in the international relationships and this is not good for the US big interests in the kaukasus area and in terms of international influence. Georgia is a strong US political and economical ally... and they both have reasons to turn russia to a weaker position... from this point of view, it seems they were successful in starting the violence in south ossetia in the first place, since Russia, responding to the georgian aggression (ahah! a war between morons...), now is having mostly all the western governments and media against. But the problem here is that russia is no longer the weak one in the corner who had to shut up as it was in the past decade. Now russia has a big economical power and influence especially on those european countries that rely on russia for energy and oil. Not to mention the fact that with the help of China Putin has build a strong army. So, the situation is pretty complicated, I think... :-s
