I can't imagine this 30 minute Obama commercial will do any good...

It just seems like a waste of money to me.

The people who will choose to watch it, are probably Obama supporters anyway, but I can't imagine that it will attrack or sway anyone who wouldn't vote for him.

I like the 2-3 minute "Hi, I'm Barack Obama..." commercials, and think that their effective, but this long drawn out infomercial (or what ever it's going to be), just seems sorta pointless.

I see what you're saying and I agree for the most part but I also believe there are still many undecided voters out there and this could sway them over to Obama's side. I guess it depends on what they say in the commercial. I don't think Obama has anything to lose by it except the money spent on it of which his campaign has plenty.

I see your point... but I just think that if I am an undecided voter (especially in a swing state), I've had political ads and coverage shoved down my throat for months now, and I probably wouldn't want to sit through 30 more minutes of it.

I don't know... like you said, I guess it can't hurt.

I live in PA, huge swing state and yes, we've had it SHOVED down our throats, excellent choice of words. I'm obviously an Obama supporter and I will probably try to watch this ad just to see what it has to say. I do know some undecided voters around here who I have talked to and I gotta think they will watch this too. I think it comes down to the fact that he is doing it because he can and it can't hurt, only help. That said, I'm still nervous about this election. I see another FL debacle, from what I hear they're almost deadlocked.

  • Ross Perot did the same in the 90's and if I remember correctly only the Superbowl had more viewers.

The good news is, that if the polls follow suit, and Obama can win Nevada (BIG "if"), Obama can get to 270 without Florida, Ohio AND Pennsylvania. He has pulled of a strategy that give him many roads to 270, while McCain seems to have to run the table.

Well I look at it this way, its the last week and he can't assume he has won and has to try and reach everyone out there that is still waiting for something to make up their mind.

They have the money to do it and as a donor for the Obama (a modest donor of course) I expect them to pour every penny on the campaign and try and reach everyone even if it only to sway a few hundred votes.

They have the money and its better than sitting on it specially being so close to the end.

It's true Obama has many roads to the White House right now but roads have obstacles and until I hear the official words that name him the next President of the United States I think everyone should go out and vote and the campaign should keep on working as hard as the first day.
